ChipWits Demo v0.65.4: Feature Update

Highlights

This new feature release includes some bug fixes and several significant improvements, most notably:
* Ultra-wide monitor support and support for all aspect ratios
* Improved keyboard support, including more shortcut keys and "Quick Buffers"
* Top 10 scores are now available in the histogram view (as well as the ability to not share yours)
* The ability to drag the camera around with the middle mouse or Command+Left button

Press the Field Manual button during the game to see all available hotkeys

* #883: [SCORE]: Make it more clear when the player matches top score in the category
* #890: [USABILITY]: Hotkey page
* #891: Alt + arrows changes true connector direction
* #892: [HOTKEY]: PgUp, PgDn switches between SubPanels
* #906: Support for ultra-wide monitors, and improve support for all aspect ratios in game and puzzle selection screens
* #920: Drag the camera around with middle mouse or Command+Left button
* #924: Show top 10 scores in histogram view
* #929: Ask user if they want to be notified when new puzzles come out
* #931: [MANUAL]: Make it explicit when the game will open the browser to chipwits.com/docs
* #934: Show "Top", "All Equal", "Top x%", or "Bottom x%" as appropriate (and don't show "Top 0%")
* #935: Add noSpawn marker option to mission file format to prevent items from spawning on some tiles
* #937: Ctrl+Left Click should have the same behavior as right-click for computers with no right mouse button
* Improve keyboard behavior:
* Add shortcut keys to all action menus
* Restore selection after modal dialog
* Ensure a default button selected when modal dialog opens
* Select chip grid when mission starts, by default
* Quick Buffers: Alt 1-8 copies selected chips into a persistent buffer, 1-8 pastes
* Enable not submitting scores, not showing name in options. Show steam names in top 10
* Update Copyright to 2025

Bug Fixes

* #832: [DEMO]: Audio: User reported: The clicks in Video Settings" are extremely loud compared to everywhere else
* #881: BUG: Fall does not animate when speed > 16X
* #905: [DEMO]: [CRASH]: [40th Anniversary Puzzle]: Hitting escape twice while level is underway puts the game into a strange level state which eventually causes game to crash
* #906: [RESOLUTION]: On 3440x1440 resolution screen/text is cut off
* #936: [LOC]: Percentages for scoreboard show up as tofu box for some locales
* Fix animation of objective met dialog

Really looking forward to this!

I played ChipWIts on my Commodore 64 many, many years ago. Innovative concept at the time to be able to write code within a game. And by using a visual icon language they made it accessible to even those not familar with writing code. Brilliant. Very happy to see ChipWits being revived and upgraded!...

To play:

Load the ChipWits Demo (make sure you're on 0.64 or later)
Select the "Snowflake" Challenge
See if you can top the leaderboard with the highest Median Score

ChipWits Demo v0.64.2: Minor Update

This release includes a couple of small bug fixes and some assets for the December Challenge

Enhancements

* Add December challenge mission (Snowflake)
* Add snow effect and VFX toggle for snow effect
* Add new item: gift
* Enable additional objectives for monthly challenges, other than cycles used

Bug Fixes

* #491: Random music doesn't include level 3
* #879: Global Standings says "Behind You!" instead of mission name
* #912: Your Best is sometimes better than world record

Great demo. Suggestions.

- It would be great if there was a way to tell whether or not you were actually matching the top score in a category, since the chart isn't always precise enough to tell. Or just treating being tied at the best global score as "Top 1%" would give more of an idea at least. (As I understand it, currently it shows a higher percentage in some cases even with the best possible score? Or is there genuinely some hack to e.g. beat Mobilize in less than 59 cycles?) - Would be good to be able to save three (or more...

Profile names

I'd like it if I could just select from a list for the half-names for a Chipwit, but I get that making it random means the randomness is part of the inherent design and there's supposed to be an element of mystery to what you get. That said, I'd really like if there were a listing of what words are available in each category so I know if what I want is even possible. (specifically if the word "Engine" is part of the second list)...
