ALPHA Demo Tutorial - Patch 00.00.03 - Devlog #2

Hey everyone — this is the first devlog for the Tyrium Demo in 2026, and honestly it feels good to finally have something worth showing. Patch 00.00.03 is focused on one thing: getting the tutorial level into a real, playable shape.

The biggest piece of work this patch was building out the tutorial systems from scratch. We're talking guided objectives and scripted events — so instead of just throwing you into the game and wishing you luck, the tutorial now actually walks you through things in a structured way. It's not fancy yet, but it does its job.

Alongside that, I've added the Hero Unit to the game. Right now the core rule is simple but important: your Hero must survive. Down the line I'm planning to layer in special abilities — think area buffs and more — but for now I wanted the "protect your Hero" tension to land first before adding complexity on top.

I also spent time building out a bunch of decorative buildings and vehicles for the tutorial map. None of them affect gameplay — they're purely visual — but they make the world feel a lot less empty and give the level some much-needed atmosphere.

Put it all together and the tutorial level is now a proper, handcrafted space rather than a placeholder. That's a meaningful milestone for a solo project.

Next up I'm continuing to flesh out the tutorial experience and laying groundwork for the Hero's future abilities. Hello everyone, quite sometime passed since the last update to Tyrium, but the workflow is running yet again.

We increased our team to optimize the workload balance and insure the quality of the content we want to deliver. That said, today we want to share with you our recent development update:

Focusing on the story mode of the game, we are currently working on a tutorial in the form of a prologue mission, which explains the conflict of our main faction GTO with the so called Rebells. Many thanks to the much appreciated feedback we received. Based on that feedback we saw that Tyrium has already attracted some freshly starting RTS players, so we wanted to make the entry barrier for this genre as low as possible. Therefore we designed the tutorial mission in a way that the user gets teached all the basics a RTS game has to offer, while also narrating the journey and story of our protagonist which you will follow through on his path to greatness.

Down below you find screenshots of the tutorial in the current state as well as some video which shows the intro sequence to explain a little bit of what is going on. Please keep in mind this is still early development footage with low polishing and focusing on the working systems. Which are currently the possibility to create staged and narrative driven sequences as well as guiding a user with mission objectives and tracking the completion of those.

As we are now putting in the hours once again and starting heavily to focus on adding more and more content, keep an eye out on Tyrium as we will post our updates regularly. We aim to finish the tutorial mission and polish it up as soon as possible to add it into our Demo version so you guys can try it yourself and give us some more welcomed feedback.
