Good System, but game is lagging..
Hey,

am I the only one who has problems with the game performance? Its impossible for me to play against three or more AIs in skirmish. After some minutes (~20) it starts lagging, because the castles and units get bigger. If I play against the Wolf and Saladin, it gets even worser.

But my System isn't so bad at all:

AMD FX 6300 with 3,5Ghz
MSI Mainboard
8Gbyte G.Skill memory
An MSI R5770 HAWK and ASUS HD 7790

And suggestions? I already set the settings on low details..

if you can overclock the CPU to increase performance sngle thread

Try running your hard drive thru Defraggler a couple of times. It certainly helped me. Not perfect and there still is lag with larger units but there was a definite improvement. Further overclocking did not change anything in the game. Nothing else I tried helped.

AMD FX 8150 cpu running at over 4 ghz
Radeon HD 7970 overclocked gpu
16 gigs memory

Why the hell does one have to overclock to fix this crappy laag.

The game has bad optimisation. Just wait for patches. I hope Firefly will fix it.

Okay thanks guys. Nah, thats not because of my hard drive, I have SSDs = no fragmenting.
If I disable light options and another setting, it works quite well. But the graphics look worser than in Stronghold I then.. :O

I've only had the game lag badly once. I saved the game, turned it off, started it back up, reloaded the game and the lag was gone. A real PITA ? Yeah but it worked for me.
Give it a try and let us know if you had any success.

Thanks for your idea, but unfortunaly it didn't worked for me. Gonna see if a patch for better performance will be published..

intel seems to be working better then AMD processors at the moment only because the game is relying only on a few processors rather then a bunch. If you can overclock that would be best but if not just hold out for the patch :)

It happens to me too, I think there is a memory leak or something later into the game, I start off fine too and it gradually becomes unplayable at 20 minutes, even with just two castles, I'm on a pretty high end laptop and should be able to handle it, and am able to handle it at first

It seems most games when it comes to later patches, are optimization patches. So once they fix most of the major and minor bugs, then game companies tend to fix perfomance issues.

Really if PC game companies just made everything 64 bit and allowed the software to use more of your processor, these things wouldn't happen. Your hardware matters to a certain extent, but I'd go as far to say that 70% of PC performance issues are "made up" problems. GPU wise, you're always going to have to upgrade, but a dual-core cpu and ESPECIALLY a quad-core cpu should never have performance issues.

Did you turned off your antivirus ?

On my computer I've learned that disabling Real Time Scanning and the Firewall makes a lot of difference. We're talking about McAfee here, maybe it is different for other virus programs. Don't forget to shut down your internet, just to be sure. Unfortunately this is only for Single Player.

it's a game's own problem, not your pc's, SC2 has just an offensive optimization for its ugly graphs, after all this time FireTroll still hasn't solved anything so i'm not so anxious about a true optimization fix update
