Catapults should run out of ammunition (like in real!)
I have not bought the game yet, but after watching some videos it seems that catapults are too overpowered. You should make them run out of ammunition, that would be super cool and make the game more tactical and strategic.

if you defend a castle properly, they are not over powered at all. and if they do need to nerf them thei suggest a limit of catapults not ammo.

They have to get close and by that time your archers and crossbows can destroy them. They arn't overpowered, they act nearly the same as they did in the original. You could also make maces and just charge in. It's something you should see coming and not be turtling in your base anyways. Best suggestions i can make. In all fairness though, the trebs in the original took stone.

archers and crossbows should run out of ammo too.
I would not mind if the catapults ran out of ammo (like it was in SH 1, eh?!) Back then, you had 20 rocks and if they were all fired, you had to transform stone from your storage to ammunition. I found that neat too!

It was a neat feature; but by the point you're using catapults to attack chances are you already had enough stone in stock - or could buy it from the store (and sell something else if you needed the money).

It was one of those "this is neat, but its really not affecting my gameplay save to add a level of micro over the catapults that isn't really needed" aspects. I'm not surprised to read that they've dropped the ammo requirement.
Now they could have added an ammunition building type - that converts stone to ammo and then ammo carts to carry it to the battlefield along with the catapult so that you have to re-stock them directly or the ammo cart gave auto-restocking to an area until it ran out of stock itself (kind of similar to how ammunition was distributed in Warrior Kings games).

To be fair, I'd imagine that you'd find more ammo for catapults in a desert than trees to make arrows from.

And I think I remember catapults actually consuming stone from your stockpile in one of the SH games.

Alex I know they did in Stronghold 1 and Crusader Kings 1 - I think they also did in Stronghold 2 and maybe legends- but it was alway a case that you just clicked a button on the catapult menu and another 20 stone were delivered from your stockpile. Early-on it kind of stopped you using catapults early since you'd then not have a castle (since trying to build walls with an early economy is expensive) or at least be hampered - mid to late game it had little effect unless you forgot about your catapults.

I prefer having unlimited ammo, its too much micro management. They are not over powered especially when you can charge them macemen and take them out in a couple of seconds.

unlimited ammo is unbalanced as ♥♥♥♥. do it like in crusader 1. 20 rocks for the catapult cost 10 stones!
