Stronghold Crusader 2

Stronghold Crusader 2

Vezi statistici:
Firefly Studios is back. Buuuuuuut....
As a kid I grew up on stronghold. Needless to say Stronghold 3 was a mass failure beyond anything we could have imagined. Only made worse by the fact that the game was abandon shortly after its release.

But here we are again! Stairing down another stronghold game made by Firefly Studios. HOWEVER unlike Stronghold 3, 7Sixty Games is not the publisher of Stronghold Crusader 2. Firefly Studios is both Dev and Publisher this time. Is this a good thing? EA has taught us that a publisher can easly ruin a game and rush it out the door before its ready. But does that mean this game will be different? Better?

Only time will tell if this game deserves the crule ranting everyone gave Stronghold 3.

If you ask me though, I wouldn't hold my breath. Stronghold 3 was a failure that will forever scar the Stronghold series. Its hopeful wishing to thing Stronghold Crusader 2 will be and better, but the posability does exist. MAYBE the devs learned their lesson, MAYBE the absence of the previous publishers will make a differance... or maybe this will just be another nail in the coffin.

Firefly made stronghold 2, and later Stronghold 3. I don't know what happened that caused their fall from grace but the most we can do is hope its all been resolved.

"MAYBE the devs learned their lesson" - Stronghold 3 didn't fail because of the devs.

Then they would of patched 3 not just abandon it.
They patched it for more than one year and it's playable now. It wasn't their fault that the game became this bad.
Just look forward to Crusader 2. Firefly is an Indie developer again. Like they were in their best times.

Does anyone know if the studio is still the same team or has the same leadership? Just because a studio has a solid name doesn't make it any good.

It's the people that make up the team that does the development, so the question here is... is the team still intact?
As long as they are Indie then no one will rush the game out the door. But no Im not willing to forgive 3 just like that. It was abandon, But in a small way I can'y blame then. There really wasn't any recovering from that train wreck. If they pull this off then it will be the redemption they and the Stronghold series need. And being Indie again gives them a lot more freedom to work with.
The studio is still the same, but without a publisher... ;)

Most of the leadership is the same although there are new members on the team this time around.

How can you even write with any attempt at sincerity?

"They wrote the code and designed the game but it isn't their fault it was bad."

You'd be better off saying that they learned lessons from the failure of Stronghold 3 and are trying to make it right. But to claim that it wasn't their fault when they wrote the code? Mind is officially boggled.

SH3 just was bad because of the publisher. Firefly didn't want to relase it at this time. They were forced to.

and who forced them to abandon the game? dawn of fantasy was rushed out by the pub but the devs did not abandon it they been patching it and all ready released one expasion and a 2nd in a few weeks and the game came out in 2011
"and who forced them to abandon the game?" The entertainment industry is pretty hard. They don't have unlimited money.

nor did the devs on dawn of fantasy yet firefly done SH hd games and SH 3 failed yet here is a new one so they cant be to hard up since danw of fantasy went down to only 3 people working on the game after there day time jobs so there is no excuse for firefly
All the SH games Firefly has released as an indie company have been fantastic. 2K published SH2 and 7sixty/Southpeak published SH3. Publishers have an unfortunate amount of control over what the devs do with the game, and they set release dates independent of development rate, bad combination IMO. Since they're indie again, there is pretty good reason to be hyped for this. I just hope their first 3D engine SH as an indie dev has mechanics faithful to the original. :D:

i hope it is good but then again myabe it is cos of the last game that they may have been drop by the pub
After seing what Crusader 2 turned out to be, I think it's pretty clear that a big number and/or key people that worked with Stronghold 1/Crusader are long gone.
