Is this the sequel to Sronghold 2?
Is a little confusing considering this is missing features stronghold 2 seems to have like placing units inside towers, Don't get me wrong i didn't even know stronghold 2 was a thing till just recently i am just wondering which has the online community, both are a lot of fun, though for some reason this game lags more.

since it is stronghold crusader 2 it is more a sequel to stronghold crusader rather than stronghold 2.

Interesting stuff. Makes sense i guess, this almost feels more like the first stronghold game so i can't disagree at all.

Stronghold 2 is sequel to Stronghold
Stronghold Crusader 2 is a sequel to Stronghold Crusader

Stronghold game took place in england
Stronghold Crusader took place arabic countries (mostly desert)

I wouldn't really see it that way, i always saw crusader as an expansion for Stronghold more than being a standalone game

original 2d stronghold games are much much more better than any 3d stronghold games.. i just wish they made multiplayer available in steam and not gameranger only.

As the way I see, stronghold 3 is the sequel from 1 (it continues the history from the first game). Stronghold 2's history has no connection to stronghold 1. Stronghold crusader games are like spin-offs, more focused on pve and pvp battles.

I don't think you ever played Stronghold 2 then...? Because it is certainly the best out of all the Stronghold games.

The 2005 game. You are in for a big treat if you have yet to play it.

I have played stronghold 2 . And yeah i liked it. its a good castle sims game

Its my 2nd fav stronghold, next to SH Crusader

its just a matter of prefference

Fair enough, cant say i don't also love the art style in the original game and Crusader, i just love how Stronghold 2 actually expanded on things in the mechanics including making units easier to move around among other things that were improved.

Both do still have an active community which is awesome, this game included i download maps from all 3 because all of them are just as addictive lol

Slot of features from 2 never made it any other game... ever.
Like litruelly any economic features as gong didn't go forward, there is things like rotating buildings and few units but otherwise not much.
The next one Warlords does seem to have most things from every stronghold game minus moats, pitch, gong and honour, otherwise fear factor and other is there.

How is it an expansion if you didn't need to own the base game? I never owned or played stronghold or stronghold 2 but I owned Stronghold Crusader and Stronghold Crusader 2. Expansions require a base game. There is no base game that is being expanded.

Shogun 2 Fall of the Samurai is a standalone expansion, there. Infact he isn't wrong, if you take a look at Crusader most of its buildings and features are reskinned from Stronghold 1, in fact the only things added are few campaings, AI to MP and a new set of units, everything bar wooden walls and mountain height is ripped out of 1. It fits the 'expansion' category perfectly, while of course posing as a new game.
Obviously you can defo say that the changes to economy and balance make this a different game, but as general content its eh.

Yeah, while Stronghold 3 was a pretty shi... game and Stronghold 2 was definitely and obviously a try to revive the Stronghold 1 vibe.

SH2 was surely one of the best ones, so detailed, so many features.
