What do they mean by design though? Just the way they're built? Is there nothing more to it like unique building appearances, different walls/towers? Because I read that one had buildings with "spiral staircases" and "the strongest fortifications and traps."
none of the dlcs add new building stuff, with desingns they just mean how the castle is build. For example, this 2 castles have different castle designs:

The dlcs are ai packs and so the ais are the most important feature of the dlcs.
Of course you also get 1 new skirmish trail per dlc.
Its on you to decide if you want to wait for a sale or not. :)
