"Black & White" and "Populous".
The reason I mention those two games in the title is because I want to ask the people who have bought and play this game, what does this game have over similar games like "Black & White" and "Populous"?

I really, really love these types of God games. But what reason do I have to buy this game when I can get those two games for cheaper?

I know everyone has different opinions, but I would love to hear everyone's. Thanks :-)

Well this game is kinda like those two accept it has alot of civilization in it. You age up and such. ALSO in the finished game you will be on map the size of jupiter. And on that map you will run into other players. You have many interations you can do(peace, war, independence from eatchother) so its like the others accept it has a bit longer game time.... and alot more multiplayer.

I have, but opinions directly from people who have played the game are better. Just so long as no one starts a fight.

I've not played populous, but this is not like black and white, you sculpt terrain till you run out of belief, then you go click on your houses so you can sculpt more terrain.

That reads a lot like Black & White to me though.

actually from what i'm seeing after having bought the game, and i thought the same thing (being a huge populousL the beginning fan) is that this is more like a sillly facebook clicking on buildings to collect crap kind of game than a RTS. my hopes were pretty high that i plunked down $20 on an alpha. disappointed.

If you take the core gameplay of Populus and Black & White, mix it and than water it down till you feel comfortable to release what you got as a facebook game, than you have what Godus currently is.

/edit
The game has potential, no doubt, but the devs have to start listening to their costumers. Yes, they claim they do, but tons of alpha backers that complained about all that clicking from the beginning will tell you a different story.

Comparing Black and White 2 to this game is like comparing a steak to a soy sandwich.
Black and White 2 is the steak.

Would you say that it 'currently" looks watered down because it is still being made, or do you think the final product will be like this?

I was actually comparing this game to the first Black & White. I did not like the second one because it was more of a city builder than a God game, Black & White 2 was a failure to me.

It depends. If they are willing to take the u-turn that is required the final product might be quite good. But if they continue to ignore all the feedback and just keep going this will end stay nothing but an expensive facebook game.
The game does have potential. At the moment I do not feel like a god, but I'm sure they're working on my changes. The amount of clicking is silly and needs to be reworked. BW1 / BW2 far surpass this game in the 'god like feel'. However the land shifting is very cool and it can be addicting until you realize all you're doing is expanding villages.

I personally think they should have used the "From Dust" way of moving land.

In that case, this game is not even a soy sandwich.
