Resistance or Honour Grant?
Which did you choose?

I actually found this choice to be a bit harder than I would've expected. Whereas other games out there would've drawn a distinct line in the sand (i.e. one side is "good" and the other "bad") War Logs didn't really do that.

From what I understand the Resistance is fighting against the entirety of the Aurora government who they believe to be corrupt and tyrannical. Meanwhile General Honour's group is trying to push back against the Technomancers who are steadily gaining influence/power and flexing their muscles in some no-so-acceptable ways.

Both seem to be relatively "good" causes but when you're told to join one or the other you have no idea if maybe something sinister is hiding under the surface of either faction. I''ve just started the third and final act so I don't know if maybe the story will better flesh the two out and reveal their intentions but I just wanted to see what people chose and why.

I ended up siding with the Resistance b/c it definitely appeared as though the entire Aurora government was up to no good as opposed to the Honour Grant which seemed to be cracking down on one faction of the government which was causing issues and threatening the higher ups.

I went with the Resistance too. If I play through again, I'll go with the General just to see how that plays out. I imagine it would surely make a difference in the final scene, and I'm wondering if it would keep the kid alive.

The two sides are inspired basically from the political left and right ideologies.
What i liked about this game is that it didnt favor any of the two sides, instead it showed the corruption of both of them, thus making the story more realistic than what you usually see in games.
There is no good and bad side, its bad and bad side, and the fact you are forced to chose a side is bad in itself.
I played the game several times and i chose both sides to get to know the whole story, but if i only had one choice, i would have chosen the resistance, im a convinced leftist.

Did choosing to side with the General do anything to save the kid?

I choose the general, and...the kid lives, for the moment. Idk if that'll stay like that, but...well...I don't want to spoil it.

I think you already did

not so much as it turns out. Like I said, he's alive and well. I just started helping the general.

But there is a catch, like I said, hes alive.

Uhh you misunderstand left and right political spectrums then. If you sided with the Rebellion who is a seemingly libratarian or even less extreme anarchist group that is far right. Totalitarian or Nationalist/ Fascist groups like the Aurorian government are left wing. You sided with the right wing group.

I sided with the General just because I wanted Innocence to live. I knew what happened if I picked the Resistence and found that a stupid set up.

Not exactly... "political left" is a term that describes politics driven by populism, such as disestablishing aspects of government that take advantage social inequality to exploit the working class. "political right" is a term that is used to describe politics that cooperate with established social structure and accept inequity as an inevitability. The terms Left and Right are completely relative to the government they are being used in reference to, neither side is inherently right or wrong and both political perspectives will exist in any government. In Mars War Logs the resistance is a politically "Left" group and Honour's action group is a politically "Right" group.

Honestly, no matter whom you choose, you will get a "bittersweet ending" more or less. Don't remember what happened in the Resistance but when you join General Honour (obvious spoiler) you continue to beat the Technomancers up with him, then oppress them and put them under watch forever so that all their freedoms are revoked. After that General Honour kills the faction leader of Aurora, who turns out to be a mutant. He takes the position for himself and is about to kill Roy and Innocence, but Roy can successfully pressure Honour into letting him and Innocence go and they are free to leave, but must never return. Also, it's mentioned in the ending video that Honour orders the soldiers and guards stationed in Shadowlair to do a sweep and all people who were criminal, Resistance or only had slightly to do with either of them were executed.

Not sure if I got all of that right. But yeah, it's pretty grim. I don't think the Resistance ending is any better. It's a typical "Pick your poison" deal. You can choose between grim ending A or B and they will be different, but each of them is as unsatisfying as the other.

I personally picked General Honour, because I found his background more intriguing. He's a type of character you don't have that often in games. Meanwhile the Resistance is the ordinary rebel-against-the-system group. Not very interesting.

Honour Grant seem to be to be more focused on having a steady and whole/strong nation from both in and out but the resistance only see internal problems.

I went with Honour and ended up crowning a tyrant. Wonder what funzies will await me when I go with the Resistance in my second playthrough.

That's how I did it. Last year on my first playtrough I chose the general and now I just finished on the Resistance side.

I played through twice to play both sides, it is only a short game and even though you go to the same locations with either faction, the storyline is somewhat different.

In the end I'd have to go Grant. The Rebellion is like five fingers on one hand doing things independantly instead of coming together to make a fist. All they want to do is burn everything to the ground with no real clear plan. Whereas Grant knows what he wants to do, tells you directly who he is (good and bad) and how he means to go about getting there. Hell, he even shoots his best friend in the face for being corrupt. Albeit he threatens to shoot you too but his conscience kicks in and honors his agreement with you. Going with Grant also gives you an avenue to have Innocence live by making a sacrifice of your own (losing your friendship with Innocence and allowing yourself to be used by Grant).

In the end you walk into the sunset, your girl goes with you and Innocence lives to see another day to find his own lot in life. If Innocence reads your continuation of the diary perhaps one day he'll understand what you had to do. Nothing is set in stone and it leaves room for a sequel / spin-offs. It seems like the more well rounded story arc.
