Saved game is NOT HOME.
I went to boot up the game and finally finish it tonight since I've put in 3 hours already I've got to be close but I take my sweet time...anyway: My save started me off at almost the very, very beginning of the game on the front porch staring at the front door as if I had just started the game and I'm locked out of the house. ODDLY I think I went out on the front porch to have another look around before quitting the last time I played but anyway

I looked in the forum to find where the saves are stored (appdata/locallow/thefullbright...) and I have folders 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 but even if I use the folder with what I believe had the last creation date timestamps and move all the others out and renamed it to "0" which is what I'm guessing I should do from a previous forum post where someone was helped by an admin - but then there was NO resume game option, only start a new game - so I put them all back the way they were and still obviously have the same original problem. Also from checking the md5 of the "game.sav" file in each of the folders (0-8) they are all EXACTLY the same which is freaking me out because I think that means they're all identical but they all have different created and modified dates so shouldn't they be different!?! I don't know maybe I'm freaking out and overreacting...

Anyone? How can I have eight save folders with the exact same data in them and all of them be basically a game saved after the intro?

On my machine, I don't have the "resume" button anymore !
Haven't checked the actual folders, but could some update have removed the saves ?!

My resume option was also gone. Occurred after I could not open a door that said "open door" on the hover text - the one outside the music room - and reloaded the game. Fullbright Games folder did not exist in appdata\locallow until I reloaded steam. After reload, the latest save folder, "4" was empty. I copied the files from "3" into there and resume button came back but it's an old save

^ Funny you mention that, my "4" folder (out of like 8) was also empty!? Are there any support admins at all?

HI all,

this is a known issue, and we're patching it in the next update, due in a few days. Sorry for the trouble it's caused. Restarting the game should work (if you know the combination to the locker or the other secrets, you can go straight to where you left off), or copying an old save into the new folder will work.

OK, thanks for the quick reply!

I think I already tried what you said so maybe I'll just wait for a patch...but to be clear, is the newer save the largest numbered folder, or the smallest?

largest

Is this fixed yet? I played for a couple of hours a month ago and cannot find my saved game or the option to resume any saved games.

same here, after the update I still don't have it :'(

Hi,

This is fixed and will not happen again, however sadly since the saves were never created in the first place there's no way to get that progress back.

Luckily if you remember the story and the combinations and so on, it's easy to pick up where you left off!

I've just loaded the game after playing for a bit yesterday. I'd had a good wander around downstairs, but not been upstairs or unlocked any doors. When I left there was a save game to continue from where I was, but now it's gone.

I'm playing on OS X, so I've looked in ~/Library/Caches/unity.The Fullbright Company.Gone Home and I can't see anything that looks like a save there. Is there anyway to get it back?

So just to get this straight...even though I have 8 game folders each with save data in them theyre all corrupted? Could I maybe ZIP them up and share them to you just in case maybe there is SOME progress saved? I don't want to just skip doing 50% or more of the game by jumping ahead of an entire half or more if I dont have to. I put the folders in my public dropbox account here if you have a chance to look at them: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1150497/GoneHome_Saves.rar

Oh, in case it wasn't totally clear from what I wrote above, I bought the game in the Midweek Madness sale. So I only started playing yesterday once, by the looks of the above, the issue was suposedly resolved.

Oh, also, I did upgrade my OS to Mavericks between playing and trying to continue, but I don't appear to have lost anything else.

For a game this long I would not care too much about my savegame, but I've spent a long time on that one, since I've moved every item in the house to the entrance. Is this all deleted now ? WTF.

Hi somnolentsurfer,

I believe the Caches directory gets cleared when doing an OS upgrade, so I'm sorry, I don't think there's any way to retrieve your save!

Ah, OK. I evenutally replayed, and made sure to do it in one sitting as I didn't trust the save system. So, you know, great game. But I'd suggest ~/Library/Application Support might be a better place for save game data.
