Slow gameplay
Even with graphics on low, having a difficult time playing this game. Intro was incredibly slow and it takes ages to move throughout the house. Any advice?

Hi there! Sorry about this. Without knowing more about your system, my guess would be that Unity is choosing the wrong video device to run the game, causing it to go slow. There are steps for forcing Gone Home to use the correct video device on https://fullbright.company/technical-support. I hope this resolves your issue! If not, please post your system specs here for review and we'll see what else we can do. Thanks for your patience.

Thanks! Funny enough, it was slow when I was trying to play at a friend's and when I came home it was still a little slow but way more manageable. Thanks for your advice!

Ahh, is it possible you were playing on a laptop? If the laptop wasn't plugged in, it could've been on low power mode, which'll make games run slower. Just a thought. Glad it picked up for you, thanks for following up!

It's funny, 'cause I have the same problem, also it seems: when I turning the lights on: movement become slow as sloth. But when I turn off: all the sudden I move a bit more faster

How strange! Have you looked into either of the workarounds above (ensuring the game is using your dedicated video device, and that if you're using a laptop it's not unplugged/in energy saver mode?)

Hello, this game looks fun! Unfortunately, I just opened it and also find it way too slow to use.

I have checked your specs sheet and my Mac laptop falls within your requirements. The specs/troubleshooting sheet suggests "going into your Nvidia or graphics card’s control panel software and make sure your dedicated graphics card is set to Default, so that Unity does not use a graphics card that might be integrated into your motherboard."

I do not know how to do that on this device. Can you please describe that here?

Thank you.

Hi there, sorry it's not running better for you! The process is different on Mac-- please check out these Apple help pages for ways to check which video device a game or app is using, and to change your power settings to force all apps to use your dedicated graphics card for better performance:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202053
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202043

Most often if there are issues with performance on a laptop, it's due to the laptop being unplugged, and therefore automatically reducing power usage, which means there's not as much processing power for graphics performance. So make sure your laptop is plugged in while playing the game if it hasn't been. Thanks for your patience!

I too am having this problem. Everything else seems to work fine (lights, mouse sensitivity) but the walk speed is like moving at half speed. I've tried turning all of the graphics all the way down, running in windowed mode, I've checked the specs (I'm running W10 2ghz with 8gb, and the laptop IS PLUGGED IN), and it's still like this. I played four or five years ago and it did not run like this, and just to make sure I wasn't crazy I pulled up a few videos of other people playing the game and verifying that they weren't also walking through waist-high pudding. It's frustrating as hell.

I'm having the same problem, can you fix it? it is very frustrating, I do not find any solution in the forums, is it a problem of incompatibility with W10?

Same issue here.

It's like moving against a lot of wind. Or I don't know walking through a really heavy matter. Super slow.
