How is that related at all to VS more? Completely irrelevant to the topic...
Besides the fact that he's saying the leaderboard is by wave, so why would anyone try to steal kills when it's about waves?
I really do hope a leaderboard is put in at some point. Would add a lot of replayability
Jokes aside...he's correct I DID intend this leaderboard to be by wave rather than most kills obtained. Sure I'd list kills obtained AND time survived, BUT it'd be sorted by wave reached first THEN time reached and then kills obtained. The idea of this "leaderboard" is to make this a competitive survival mode rather than just another "oh I got the furthest but idk who REALLY DOES have the world record on this mode".
Also Versus is really terrible and imbalanced anyway, Firebug and Zerk meta with one med just wreck versus zeds, plus level 25 perks also gives humans a potentially unfair advantage over versus zeds. Tripwire meant well with this mode no doubt but it's just...garbage. I'd rather carry my teammates to victory in 6P HoE, or do level 0 solo HoE challenges than play Versus tbh!
Offline scores don't count. If in this game only official ranked servers saved your wave count (and maybe a little anti-cheat) it would be fine.
deaths/blocks/damage dealt/damage avoided ? its not a game that is meant for ranked play, you will even drop accuracy rating for projectile and healing weapons.
Now that Endless is out (think this thread was made before it was released), the only way they could do it would be by waves survived. But even then, since you can join a game in progress, it doesn't really help. They'd have to make it lock the match when the game starts so nobody can join midgame to ruin the leaderboard. But then that presents it's own problems. So I don't think a leaderboard would work at all, for now
Of course in Killing Floor you respawn every wave, but if the wave difficulty goes up each time, the likelihood of a team wipe goes up too, so isn't it reasonable?
There wouldn't be a point in recording stats in endless per-perk because you can change perks every wave :/
Gotchyah. So in theory it'd be that, but instead of time spent, it'd be waves survived. Then tiered by base difficulty. Would prefer if they could do it by vanilla maps, since it's much easier to survive forever on most of the custom maps vs something like DieSector.
- I've been Gold I in Paladins competitive mode, almost Platinum rank (75/100TP). Even won against an all Plat team as Tyra while we were all Golds because I was carrying my teammates so hard to victory
- I'm Plat I in Let It Die's TDM mode right now. Have been a few times already. I could probably breach Diamond with tier 3 fighters, and storm it with 4...
- Sure, I'm ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Bronze in OW. But I've been Silver before...and was Gold in Lucioball.
- Plus I'm following this dude to augment my aim + gamesense + positioning: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEwLGKtfy7U
- EDIT: Forgot to mention me winning 1st place at a House of the Dead 4 tournament. Whoops. :D
Anyway, I'm glad this thread is generating some debate, precisely why I posted this. :) I just want a reason to compete again instead of "oh I just reached official endgame, now what?", ya know? Yes I realise hackers WILL ruin a legitimately good idea but we can say that for anything.
People can shoplift stock that is not behind a counter, should we just move all supermarket items behind the counter? Of course not! It would be absurd and extremely inconvenient for the consumer + poor staff members involved. People can drive cars at speed to KILL someone, shall we ban those too? Knives can cut vegetables or kill someone, even guns can be used to preserve life from armed home intruders in Stand Your Ground states or to commit a massacre.
It's down to the user on a philosophical level, but that is digressing from the ORIGINAL intent of this thread, which is "is leaderboards a good idea? In my opinion yes it is, but what do YOU think?"
Not quite. ;) The developers can lock you into one perk of your choosing for Endless and let you have normal perk rules on other modes for example. I'd do it as so:
- For perk only leaderboards have the lock on option and let the user choose whether they're "one tricking it" or being flexible. If they're one tricking it disable perk swaps for that session until they die or they quit and keep it ticked until they untick it, because they may want to retry it (why no restart button? Best you have is enablecheats + restartlevel command in solo play, which kinda blows really. Server admins can restart level w/o cheats command in MP afaik).
- For general leaderboards let the player perk swap as usual. I already acknowledged how pointless it'd be to have perk specific for multiplayer, but solo play you're gonna have some amazing one tricks, for example Rykerzzz as Support is EASILY one of the best if not THE best Support player in the world. I wanna see how well I can do against that cheeky s*** looooooool. :D He IS my shotgun sensei after all. ;)
Let It Die is really obscure despite the developers bragging about 4 million downloads on PSN, it's a PS4 exclusive game. Really good despite the bulls*** matchmaking that you're FORCED to endure, whereas Dark Souls lets you play offline to dodge Invasions if you just want a good single player experience. :) Were the developers more open to feedback and fixed the MM I'd recommend this game to you in a heartbeat, it's just so much fun to play. Easier version of Dark Souls in my honest opinion.
clearly i was right, you clearly know nothing of ranked play or seasonal ladder climbing
