In order to make the workshop feature function on a dedicated server, the server must also have the steam client installed, running and logged in before you start the KF2 server. This then allows the server to download and update from the workshop. Also it adds this nice feature of causing the most horrific lag spikes during gameplay and possible memory leakage on some OSes.
So, no workshop or laggy server with the possability of crashing due to out of memory error.
I would also point out the if you are renting a server from a game hosting provider, you are boned and have to use http redirect instead of the workshop.

The redirect only works on port 80 (this is so stupid I want to choke someone out over it), which is blocked by most if not all consumer ISPs because screw people who self host /s. So your redirect can't be hosted on your network, it must point to a webhosting provider or co-location/whatever.

Thanks alot for reminder, i was not playing KF2 for a while, i'v been waiting untill this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ halloween/new year events to get over. And suddenly when i updated my weapon addons they were not downloading, and i was messing with it few days, and i knew that in order to downloaded my steam client have to be started, but i totally forgot about it. Seriously wtf tripwire, it's such an old problem, but looks like they give 0 f***s about it
