Is it possible to play together with a friend if I play through epic games, and my friend through steam?

I took the killing floor 2 from the epic games distribution, but my friend didn’t have time, is there any way we can play together?

You can play on the same server, or run or rent a server on you own.
Epic and steam players can play together.

The only important limit to this is workshop and mods. That's more work on the epic version as it is on the steam version, but still possible.

You can NOT run a non-dedicated server or p2p, but that's not related to steam/epic. Thats unfortunately a shortcomming at kf2 platform-independent.

Yes but I don’t think you can get crates and usb to get cosmetics in the epic games version.
