Luckily the community is very nice and it's great fun to just play with random people.
but it's more fun (opinion) to play with others.
you dont need to communicate, just joina game online and shoot the bad guys, its all about fun and when you play online on hard or higher the battle is INTENSE.
That being said, it's a lot of fun with friends too. Ask around for other players, or add people you enjoyed playing with in random lobbies.
You dont need to be chatting over mic. There are built in communications for the simple stuff like requesting ammo or money. Also the characters talk alot on their own shouting useful stuff out. Just stick with team mates and do your best not to block people... and most importantly, have fun!
TWI games' communities are always nice, so have a seat and enjoy.
