Changing cd-key region?
Hey I wanna ask if its possible to revoke my cd key (purchased in germany) and exchange it with a cd key from another region? I just read that cd keys in an region affected by strict age verficiation organisations will recieve a cut even post purchase.
(It's not like I didn't inform me before buying the cd key, but I misunderstood something about this topic first, because english isn't my mother language.)

My cd key is bought here in germany.

I wish it would be like in killing floor 1. You bought it before the age verification was completed and you permanently had an uncut cd key.

There is no way for Tripwire to do this. Your only chance will be to ask Steam Support to refund you the game, and then receive the gift from elsewhere.

and what about the cut after age verification is done? Will I get a cut or not? And also, the User Agreement of steam says every game I buy here is not mine, but steams. I heard it's like my games are only rented, shouldn't that mean I am able to give it steam back?
Holzmann 22 ABR 2015 a las 8:44 a. m.
Correct me if I'm wrong, though, but all KF2 copies currently have the same region code. That means if they're to censor it, they would have to somehow reassign codes to every purchase in order to differentiate between regions OR they'll base it on IP. In the latter case, that means regardless of where you bought your copy, if you're living in Germany, it'll get cut.

It seems like the best plan of action is to just wait it out.
flipp 22 ABR 2015 a las 8:45 a. m.
Chances are high it will stay uncut, because there is currently only sold one version of the game and I doubt they force cuts based on IP.

In killing floor 1 I didn't get a cut, because I bought it upon release before it went through age verfification. Every other player I know living in germany who bought that game afterwards have a cut version.

EDIT: That means I am hoping it is like you said flipp (and Holzmann. )

You pay for a subscription to Steam games, you can not normally get a refund but you may be able to with early access games.

The keys you bought now on Steam in Germany use the same subscription ID for everyone else, so it is possible you won't be censored in the future, but it is not confirmed. You are risking being censored in the future, but in my personal belief you will be fine. But to be sure, you are free to go the Steam Support way.

Valve can do that by changing subscription ID of all people who have Germany set as their location on https://store.steampowered.com/account/ . But it is unlikely in my opinion.

Wouldn't changing the subscription of all people living in germany also include filtering the ones owning killing floor 2? Wouldn't that be way too stressfull for valve and there servers or engineers?

You have absolutely no way of knowing how this will turn out. Don't buy it. If they can't make it clear then they simply won't get your money.

It's rather not safe to buy it right now in germany. Tripwire isn't delivering enough information to make a safe decision.
Spirit 22 ABR 2015 a las 9:51 a. m.
One question, if I was to get a key from another region , won't that be just the same cd key as every other regions? Wouldn't buying it from another region and activating it ing ermany be pointless when they really make a IP based cut? (I am thinking about asking support for a refund and then a friend to buy it for me from another region.)
Baazul 22 ABR 2015 a las 9:56 a. m.
It might be the same sort of key, but the game was then technically purchased in the german store if you purchase it(can be seen under "Account Details"). No one can tell right now how they will handle the censoring. It would be best if there were special german keys after release, but that is just wishing without any proof at the moment.

Early Access titles seem to be uncut in general, because – as you people have already mentioned – they usually do not go through any age rating process.

I don't think there has been any case yet in which an Early Access title had a lot of gore in it and made it to the final release. I could be wrong, though. I think this problem is a new one.

Is there any proof of that? Why would they act differently on the same sales platform (Steam)?

They cant because there is no region set right now: https://steamdb.info/app/232090/subs/

No country packages and no region right now, so they cant cut it afterwards.

Look at KF1 for example, there are different versions with different regions (DE for example): https://steamdb.info/app/1250/subs/

If you look at L4D2 there are versions for AU too.

They cant cut it afterwards except they do it over IP but then everyone who bought it abroad would get a cut version also.

RO2 was cut in germany since release as far as i know. If you look at steamdb you can see the versions for germany: https://steamdb.info/app/35450/subs/
I got this as a gift because there was the "low violence" disclaimer at the buy button from the beginning (the official one, not a message in the game info)
