AR-15 Varmint Rifle?
Hi there everyone,

I've spent a good amount of time playing Killing Floor over the years and I think the sequal is looking to be promising!

I've been watching the gameplay video of PCGAMER's time with the game and there's an issue that keeps tugging at my brain with the Commando's rifle, the AR-15 Varmint Rifle.

My issues with it are...

1. An AR-15 is not automatic unless modified.

2. The clip size in the videos is very tiny. Skinny...making me believe that it's a .22 caliber round being fired.

3. "Varmint Rifle" A varmint rifle or varmint round is used in hunting small game or target shooting. If that was your intent, you would not be hunting with a short barreled carbine AR-15 like that.

Why would you want to shoot a ZED with a .22? Get that .556/.223 M4 back out there. It's seemingly more fitting in my eyes.

"M4 Varmint Round Rifle"

If anyone could shed some light on this or shoot in your opinion, I would appreciate it! :)

Thanks guys.

The AR-15 Varmint Rifle uses 9mm ammo just like the starting pistol. I'd assume that ammo conservation can be utilized by being able to use the pistol's ammo when running out.

It fires in 3-round bursts or single-fire mode.

You can see it at the description underneath the weapon at the trader menu here:

I like it, but only as the free weapon at the start. It's kinda like they tease you with a
varmint rifle making the assault rifle even more satisfying. Wish we saw more footage on the Mossberg though......

Why would anyone try to use a clip on a rifle that uses magazine?

None the the firearms we saw in the video use clips. Just magazines. I just think the caliber size and rifle is a goofy choice to even be in this game. They should just have a Submachine gun genre or optional secondary weapons with 9mm ammo. lol. Not the Commando's rifle.

No ♥♥♥♥. I typed that up fast. Messed up the terminology, And was messing up replies. Like what usually happens on forums. I didn't even realize I did that. And I misinterpreted Disgruntled's post and the following ones after that. I read them wrong.

If you actually read all of the comments, I do understand what the difference between a "clip" and a "magazine" is. , I said.

"None the the firearms we saw in the video use clips. Just magazines. I just think the caliber size and rifle is a goofy choice to even be in this game. They should just have a Submachine gun genre or optional secondary weapons with 9mm ammo. lol. Not the Commando's rifle."

and as Disgruntled said,

"I think my joke flew past you"

I did not realize I misused the terminology. A stupid error on my part.

Do you have any comment on what the purpose of what I made this thread for? Do you have any opinions on the use of the AR-15 small caliber rifle as a starting rifle for the commando?

Personally, I think it's really cool to see one of the rarer guns again. Only time I saw a Colt SMG in a game was "Enter the Matrix".
Yeah, exactly, whoever played that game? Not many, I'm sure.
I'm just kind of tired to have the same M4's all over the place, and I like how they spiced it up a little with something with a more "police special forces look".

It also makes more sense to start with sort of an Assault-rifle-ish SMG than with an M4 on tier one, to switch it for tier two Enfield L85. I mean, seriously?
Apart from those two being pretty much the same platform in terms of caliber performance (and giving them noticeably different stats would be a bit questionable), the M4 is probably the better weapon.

Sure, the platform has it's issues *cough*direct gas impingement*cough*, but the Enfield, as I've heard, was a pretty unreliable piece of crap and they had to have Heckler and Koch fix it.
Not sure how well they've done, though.

Only thing that kind of bugs me is having a submachine gun on the assault rifle class, But that's more of a mind thing. Like the uneven numbers of same-colored Fruit Loops at the end.
