Zombie misconception
Am i the only one annoyed by the fact that people continually mix up the specimen in game with zombies? I think this issue is due to the devs implementing community maps in the base game with descriptions supporting this misconception. Can we try to get the 'Zombie' tag removed from KF2 as it is being improperly applied to it.

Never took it personally. I saw it more or less as an elitist thing to demean people for not being "hardcore enough fans" to know the difference. Doesn't help that the zombie genre exploded in the past 2-3 years. It's annoying at first, but I hear more people call them by their names than call them either Zeds or Zombies anyways.

Most think zeds are just the British Z, which would be Z for Zombie. The zombie tag fits the zed theme without being super anal.

it is zombies..
a lot of the charrecters in KF1 even calls them zombies, zombies have over the years come in many difrent forms and variantions, but i would agree that calling them zeds are properly a tiny tiny bit more correct, but rly to make a big deal out it is retarded
They are mutated humans with a drive to kill only normal humans

Sounds like a zombie to me.

they are still refered to in KF1 by the charecters/voice callouts as zombies many times.

i am not annoyed by that. in fact this is helpful, because it lets you easily sort out the noobs and the pros ;-)

Personally I don't trouble myself by thinking about what to call them, I just kill them. Zeds, zombies, ballerinas, Gabens, call them whatever you like, just shoot them first.
I call them by name because I am a proffessional and we do not use nicknames in the workplace.

If an apocalypse actually occurred, would you rather call something an experiment or a zombie for the ease of it?
now you are just guessing to the fact why they call them that. fact is that they call them that and that we have a specifik word for this version of a zombie a zed.

How do you know characters in video games knows everything?

Yeah no they might not technically be zombies but the rage virus infected type that's been popular for a while now aren't technically voodoo mind controlled slaves either but we still call them all zombies. It really doesn't matter.

They use to run around trying to eat people in the first game. Moving around regardless of loss of limb, still trying to kill you. Humans torn to shreds everywhere. If it looks like a potato, its probably a potato. Specimen is just a term for the game world, similar to walker in The Walking Dead.

They're failed clones. ´-´

The definition of zombies is so vague due to their prevalance in media that calling the specimens in KF2 zombies isn't really inaccurate. They are monsters made from human flesh, they eat humans, and they don't fit the mold of other well-known monsters such as vampires or werewolves or such.

In short, it isn't a big deal to call them zombies, even if it isn't quite exact. People call the parasitic infected in Resident Evil 5 zombies, and the zombies in Resident Evil in general zombies despite them being infected with a virus rather than being risen from the dead by some sort of magic. The definition of zombies has changed over time, and become more or less meaningless due to how broad it is, so let people call them what they want.
