Also you completely prove my point about how dumb forcing classes into the game is. "I said this in another post: Mrs. Foster is my favourite character but if she isn't a Field Medic or Berserker, I just won't play her as those are my favourite classes." my brother in christ, you LITERALLY are doing the exact thing I said people would do lol.
KF1's perks were quite simply stat boosts with commando and berserker having zed time extensions. Then KF2 broke the mold and tried something new by having varied and interesting traits alongside stat boosts, with the last one being a massive boost during ZED Time. Turning that into classes is not as big of a change as you're implying.
My reasoning behind using TF2 as an example was because of your name. I could have used Vermintide 2 or Deep Rock Galactic. Both cooperative games with classes locked to their character and neither are dead, that was my point.
And immediately after what I said about Mrs. Foster, I said that you should prioritize gameplay over all else. Her being a sharpshooter, for example, will not be the reason why I might hate the game. I'm going to be playing Field Medic regardless of who the character is because I like that gameplay. What would make me dislike the game is that it's not fun.
I understand why some would be upset over not being able to choose their character freely, and my opinion is similar because I wouldn't mind this being reverted, but I just think it is ridiculous to doompost over this. We all know if they keep this change and the game turns out great, you're going to play it because it's Killing Floor and Killing Floor is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sick.
How about we wait and see the gameplay beyond the trailer, yeah?
The free market literally kills games like KF3 every other day, stop speaking cuz you know nothing lol.
And again, TF2 as a series was founded as a hero shooter, which is why it's dumb KF is doing a change no one asked for. Changing a series core identity to be more modern to make more money is a dumb, plain and simple.
And no, I really don't have any reason to play KF3, cuz it's not killing floor anymore besides title. KF has always been a fast paced horde shooter with perks that enable different playstyles. KF3 is a slow paced hero shooter PvE game that forces people to play how the devs want, not how the player wants. it's completely different and will 100% alienate the core KF audience. If it's successful it's cuz the game has gotten a brand new audience entirely.
Finally, the trailer is LITERALLY the gameplay trailer. Literally that trailer has shown how the game will be played, and the interview afterwards has shown how the devs will be with it. There's no reason to wait anymore, they've made it clear the intention and dumb changes they're making.
So they took what the original game had and then added onto it which improved the gameplay of every perk in the game. In KF1, the Demolitionist didn't set up nukes everywhere and the Berserker didn't parry every zed on the planet, including angry fleshpounds. You absolutely have to learn how to play KF2 even if you come from KF1. As far as we know, KF3 has an ultimate on top of the perk "class" system and a weapon modification system. What a difficulty spike.
One of the major complaints about KF2 from KF1 fans was that it became too fast-paced whereas it wasn't before. It removed some of the horror aspects for a more exciting one. If KF3 turns out to be slower paced, current KF1 fans will like it that way. You can't actually think KF1 was fast-paced.
For the third time now, we should wait and see for actual gameplay instead of basing it on dudes shooting various guns at clots, gorefiends, and crawlers in a cinematic way. As someone who is part of the core Killing Floor audience, I'm gonna do just that.
At least thanks for answering.
I'll ask again
What does ppl criticising the perk/offperk system in KF2 have to do with tying up a character to a class/perk in KF3?
It just restricts cosmetic costumisation. What's the gameplay impact of having foster as the "commando" isntead of anyone else?
What if multiple ppl pick commando? Now you have several fosters.
The only thing I'm seeing here is that they don't want lobbies to have duplicate classes and characters.
Still, they went farther by trying alos characters. Not a big loss for me, but for some people? yeah, they are pretty vocal about that. And how you explained this... you got a strong point there.
They certainly don't care about what anyone says when KF2 killed off the KF1 fans by diverging too much and now KF3 is diverging so much yet again that they're pissing off KF2 fans lol.
