would minimap or map hud benefit kf2?
i recently made some of my friends buy this game, they are completely new to kf, and the first thing they all said why there was no either map or mini map.
as a kf veteran and experienced kf2 player i still dont know layout to most of the maps.
my situational and geographical awareness is not top notch even in real life, i have to use digital maps and stuff.
why are we forced to memorize map layout? Imho this is artifical difficulty, and it is so 90x-ies.

Some of them are a bit confusing at first, but you get used to it. Besides that, i think it fits with the game. It's like you were dropped into this place and you have to find your way around. You wouldn't have a map in that situation.

The sort of tactical part of this game, to me is just with being able to navgate around the map, or holding one position against zeds. Still a map would be some thing I would want to see also and would want to know what others think of having a full screen, at most show you one during the loading/prep phase of the match.

I'd be ok with that. An overhead view as you were entering. As if you were landing in a helicopter and got to see it from above before you went in. It's just that we already got the easy mode flashlights and i really don't want a constant map. But truly, the maps aren't that hard to learn and you learn way more by just playing than any map could show you.

what sort of scenario start do you imagine will they have for the objective mode? FYI I am still new to the steam discussions and unsure if this is a direct reply

You can quote the post you are replying to on the right side of my response. I would imagine the objective is going to be similar to kf1. Things like escort missions with some tasks to complete. I would assume there's some videos of it on youtube.

NO NO NO people like you already ruined flashlight idea (coz flashlisht is now on the body not in the weps) because bunch of casual players are scaredy players so HELL NO. Map if you guys are not stupid enough you wont get lost also you still got eyes to see where to go simple is that.

I also want to see a minimap in the game.I usually run around the map through the complicate structures to find my teammates with a large number of zeds behind me ,esipecially, after I purchase some gears

No to minimap! You can separate from the group to rush zeds, but you risk getting lost. Nothing wrong with that. If you knew positions of your teammates, it would ruin dramatic getaways from charging Scrakes and Fleshpounds, where you got to guess where your teammates are.

I don't see how it would benefit anything at all.

Minimap makes sense in case of big maps or when you need to locate enemies. Maps in KF2 are not that big and there's no need to locate enemies when they're always gonna go straight towards you.

being a stupid or not stupid is absolutely irrelevant in this matter.
some people are by nature very bad memorizing geographical patterns, some are bad at memorizing passwords, some telephone numbers and so forth, but at the same time they might have masters degree in biology, physics or maths. does this make them stupid? well, certainly not.

So those people should stick to their teammates. It kind of makes them stupid, because they should know their weaknesses and how to mitigate them.

so you dictate how they should play the game then, instead of providing simplest of all solutions like mini map and give them the ability to play how they want?

But that spoils the game for everyone by making it more casual, just like that. You can't appease all people with defects... It's like making a game easier because there are some disabled people playing it.

Pretty much everyone should always stick to their teammates. Even if you know the map layout perfectly, abandoning your team will kill you and your team.

When people separate from eachother they can't do teamwork anymore. You can't heal teammates and you can't ignore the zeds that counter your perk. And you will get surrounded.

Only an extremely coordinated team with lots of experience and skill could split up a little bit for short amounts time. But by then you know the maps even if you are completely worthless at memorizing layouts.

A fullscreen map, while loading? Sure that could work.
