Solo: Berserker.
3-Player: 1 x Medic + 2 x Berserker.
6-Player: 2 x Medic + 4 x Berserker.
Everything else is sub-optimal unless you are willing to use cheezy tactics such as zerker wall or spots where zeds can't get you (might have been patched out) which defeat the purpose of earning achievements.
Zerker is the best class in the game. That is because it combines survivability with good DPS and persistence.
Survivability depends on 3 things:
1) Speed, the most important part of the equation. Zerk is one of 3 classes with a speed buff.
2) Health. Zerk has both a high health bar and damage resistance.
3) Get out of jail card. Zerk has Pulverizer, if you are suddenly surrounded on HOE (regular occurrence) one alt attack from Pulverizer will kill all trash that is boxing you in.
DPS is also provided by Pulverizer. In the right hands, it is the best weapon against the FP.
Persistence is the length of time that you are combat effective, in other words, how far your ammo pool gets you. Zerker will only have to expend his ammo (Pulverizer alt attack) in emergencies and on specials, thus it has the highest persistence. Due to the speed boost, you are also slightly better at replenishing ammo stocks from ammo boxes.
Cleared all the maps on HoE with : Berserker, Medic, Firebug(who switched to Support for boss just to for the increased carry capacity). On few maps we also had another friend playing Gunslinger/Commando.
Solo: Zerk
2 players: Zerk + Medic
3 players: Zerk + Medic + Firebug/Gunslinger
4 players: Zerk + Medic + Firebug + Gunslinger
5 playres: Zerk + Medic + Firebug + Gunslinger + Demo/Support
6 players: Zerk + Medic + Firebug + Gunslinger + Demo + Support
So, on HoE is pretty hard to play without Zerk + Medic combo.
5 players: Zerk + Medic + Firebug + Gunslinger + Demo/Support/Zerk
6 players: Zerk + Medic + Firebug + Gunslinger + Demo/Support + Zerk
This, plus immune to being grabbed, plus immune to being blinded, plus not having to reload every 2 sec. If you are trying a non-zerk wall game, these are all huge advantages. Three most common causes of death - being grabbed, being surrounded on all sides, getting caught while reloading. Zerk is effectively immune to all three.
Mainly because the other classes are just so unfit for HoE that it's laughable.
How are you and your friends currently playing in Suicidal? With that same layout? Also are you guys camping or kiting? With a little bit more information on your team's background, I could maybe offer some different advice. I'm not going to argue that a team of Medics and Berserkers are a key to an easy victory but there are other team compositions that can work as well.
Seems like Zerker/Med is the general consensus here, but sure.
Medic, Medic, Zerker, Firebug, Commando, Gunslinger
I play Gunslinger, me and the Firebug beat the ♥♥♥♥ out of the giants while our Zerker kites, parries, and stuns them. Two Medics shoot our butts full of love, and our Commando wipes up the fodder.
Maps with only a few optimal areas like Outpost we hold up in, but dark and more open maps like Manor or the Woods we do a lot of kiting. We've gotten to the point where Scrakes are pretty easy pickings. We're trying to get better at dealing with Fleshpounds.
Between yourself and the Firebug player, are you both just shooting the same thing? That would mean that you're both just trying to whittle down the torso health pool. If unless you're soloing Scrakes and Fleshpounds then some things change.
If you're able to solo kill then I can recommend the following :
1 Berserkers - Understands their grenades and when they should throw it (gives 5 free Scrake kills). Main Fleshpounding by using the alternate fire on the pulverizer.
1 Commando - Trash killing, looks like your player is already doing that now and also add in Scrake decap assistance.
2 Gunslinger - With the EMP nades, should make it a lot easier to decap Scrakes.
1 Demolition - Nade stun on Fleshpounds and main damage dealer to them, Nuke if there is a Berserker that is dooring.
1 Medic.
Depending on how quickly your Commando can keep trash cleared out or how you guys are using them it might be better to utilize a Firebug as that perk has an easier time with multiple trash mob control. If your noticing a lot of things stumbling around and the Gunslinger players aren't getting clear headshots in then I'd fallback to 2x Berserker, 2x Firebug, 1 Medic, 1 Demo.
If your team is just dooring or holding a 1 way then all you'll need is 2 Berserkers, 2 Medics and 2 of whatever you wish (i.e. they are irrelevant).
If no one is going to utilize the Berserker's EMP nades in the first place then fill the game up with Berserkers and Medics and just kite the game.
But all in all, it still comes down to do whatever you guys find fun.
