Does Mr. Foster ALWAYS HAVE TO wear a gas mask?

I'm wondering what face accessories can Mr. Foster wear, other than a gas mask. I'm looking at buying a few face accessories, but I don't want to be unable to equip them, or for them to look like a balaclava. Stuff like the pilot mask completely remove the gas mask, so I was thinking...

Will cosmetics like:

For anyone wondering, you're unable to equip the Santa Mask, but the Visage de Poupee | Zed mask works like a charm and the gas mask in not visible.

That's his thing, his gimmick since kf1, would be Foster without the mask.
THE. MASK. STAYS. ON. (even during seks)

Naughty Santa Mask - Foster can't wear this
Steampunk Skully Mask - this replaces the gas mask
Kobuto Mask - don't know, don't have this one

Some items like the cyberpunk helmet and hazmat suit completely replace the gas mask while others like the hockey mask and infiltrator helmet will just sit over the top, or not be usable at all by Foster. No easy way to know if you don't already own it or ask someone who does.
