Its sad because I love belt-fed weapons.
A weapon that is so fun to use at trashing get a price that can be afforded when trash is gradually replaced by biggies... bad idea. The should lower that weapon price.
Zed time is pretty much the only usefulness about it other than the extra suppression erm...stumble it provides.
I'd say at this point ♥♥♥♥ IT, give the stoner penetration power to make it the ultimate zed time extender and zed hoarde supressor. Then you'd have the super powered FN FAL for big zeds, HM 501 and 401 med AR's for second rate insurance healing and scrakes, and SCAR for overall versatility.
That and possibly bump it to a T5 and inc damage very slightly to fit the cost spike.
Even if that belt is literally all the ammo available for the gun as one reload, that would clear up the big issue with the stoner in KF2.
That said, an RPK or ultimax would be pretty cool, but the m249, IIRC can't actually use nonstandard magazines. It'd be restricted to standard 30 round, possibly some 40 round magazines. Trying to use a beta mag or even just a C drum wouldn't work right, iirc. Then again, it'd probably end up balanced like the thompson, where it is a completely inferior choice because tripwire seem to think mag size overpowers other characteristics in KF2.
Lmgs would be a nice T5 and make sense
Low ARs and basically smgs like the thompson would be lower T2's and below, higher caliber ARs would be T3's-4's, and lmgs would be T4's-T5's since irl lmgs just shred anything thats not armored to the teeth with sheet metal.
Problem is that the weapon doesn't even function without Hollow Points and tapping with an LMG in a videogame is laughable especially in KF2 where recoil is very forgiving and weapons very accurate even when shot from the hip.
You have to see it like the Thompson; bad damage, bad ammo pool, bad reload, bad weight, bad price, bad ammo cost, B A D. It's fun on lower difficulties though like most things.
I'd be lying if I said I never played with it + SCAR-H but try getting the dosh for it first.
I've done well with the gun, and I actually prefer it without hollowpoints, but its a very niche gun for the most part unfortunately, despite what its IRL roles were.
If it isn't used exclusively for trash cleaning or killing only one or two scrakes on anything above hard, you're likely gonna struggle on 6-man games.
These days I usually just play survivalist anyway.
This. The Stoner does have a lot of ammo at once, but the horrible long reload time and relatively low damage makes it hard to use. Most Commando players would rather use the SCAR or/and the FN Fal for the high(er) damage and shorter reload time.
