Nvidia Flex Gibs - worth it?
Thing is... While Fluids kinda suck, Gibs does look decent, and game feels more satisfying. But even on my pretty good PC, with far better specs that game recommends and needs for this feature, I still recieve massive fps drops, like literally from 140 to 30(!!!). Playing without it... Awesome fps, but gore does not seem to be so good

So, your advice people? Is it worth suffering with 30 fps (damn, why is situation THAT bad?), but for nice effects in a game about killing zeds in gruesome way, or play with good fps, but without special effects?

Also heard something about tinkering with ini file to make gore better without big fps drops, any details?

Forget about Flex. It's been broken for years and the devs aren't gonna fix it anymore.

Oh... So it is not just unoptimised, it is straight broken?

its broken since it was implemented lol, and devs won't work on it.

I can't go without gibs on. As a demo, I LIVE for the gibs. Especially on smaller maps with clustered enemies. Mmmm, dem some good gibs.

Legend has it that with 2 3090 Ti's you might be able to power through it with it on.

My PC with a 2080Ti runs Gibs fine, the fluids look bad anyways

Never cared for the stupid lookin' metallic mercury shine blood, but gibs is something I'll sacrifice some frames to.
Though it's running relatively well with them. Currently I've got my max dead bodies set to 120 and I only get random frame dives that I suspect may be coming from my other recurring problem with this game.
I just want my Zed intestines flopping merrily about. That's what the game is for. Gibs and gore playtime.

played with gibs on the other day and hardly noticed any changes. Just a bit of goop and entrails flying through the air but nothing really that noticeable :/. They really should have worked on gibs more cuz violent deaths are a key feature of kf2.

As far as performance goes, i experienced no problems with frames or anything, but i also have a 3080 gpu so i wasn't really expecting any issues.

Not Tripwire stopped supporting flex, Nvidia stopped support flex for UE3.
There is nothing TWI could have done here except paying really much (for something hardly noticable and hardcoded deactivated for 25% of all pc gamers)

I tried it too with my 3050 and i had no frame issues or crashes using it, but i still deactivated it. Sure it's more, it's "bloodier", but its less realistic and the extra effects are of lower quality as the standard ones. More isn't always better.

I would prefer deleting it out of the main menu and set it deactive by default because its pretty frequently an issue for weired framedrops and even crashes on many systems, and just preserv it in the config files for those who want to play a bit with their settings and abandonded features.
An unstable function shouldn't be part of the main menu, or at least marked as "unstable"

Depends largely on the map. The problem is the collision for the environment was in many cases too complex for it, example: handrails which were modeled down the the individual bars.

The developers put simple volumes in for physX to use for collision in some of the maps last I checked.

Anyway try it on Manor, you might need 2 turn it off for some maps

They would be ok if the headshot gibs worked properly, but they dont. Its better to get the custom ones from the workshop.

its a gimmick that only lose you fps

My old GPU couldn't handle it so I've played mostly without them.
When I upgraded I turned them on but honestly I don't feel like it adds anything so I went back to not having them.

It's also not well optimised so most hardware will struggle to run the game with Flex running.

Best to keep fluid/gibs off. Nvidia abandoned this feature and its support a while back. Currently it is a huge performance eater and not worth it to even have it remotely enabled.

i can confirm that the legend is false. 2 3090s do not run the gibs without stuttering
