PSA: Matriarch Plasma cannon
Dear players,

When the Matriarch does her plasma cannon skill it's literally a BIG BEAM OF GLOWING PURPLE that WILL KILL YOU if you don't move out of it. As a medic main it is incredibly frustrating to have 1-3 of you stand in the frickin' beam and not even attempt to move and then getting mad at ME when you die. I only have some many darts/grenades and ammo before I need to reload my gun. Today I had an entire team wipe on that plasma cannon early on in fight, leaving me to run around for almost 20 mins kiting and cutting down the Matriarch by myself.

I know it's pretty, purple, AND shiny.. BUT GET OUT OF IT!

-Sincerely, A Frustrated Medic

There's quite a fair bit of maps (Yes, i'm talking about default maps) where you won't have adequate cover to hide behind the laser and there's literally no way to dodge it if there's no cover unlike the King Fleshpound laser.

The map we were on this morning was not one of them. It was bio labs, and again, I kited her around for 20mins by myself and did not have an issue. I have only encountered her in maps that there was a fair amount of things to run around and duck behind, but I can also out run her beam.

You can outrun the laser if your a gunslinger. I'm guessing with a zerker also.

just shoot it first
All I read from that post was "hard mode enabled, carry harder healer" followed with kazoos.

Nothing you can do. If you don`t have any cover to hide behind you are dead. Even with cover that thing can tear through your health bar in no time. Matriarch is still new so people might still be fighting her for the first time.

You're probably someone that stands in the beam.

Unless you're hiding behind a desk, you won't be hit by it. But again, it most definitely can be out run, some classes better than others. It's jist like the people that stand there while the patriarch unloads his mini gun on them and then wonders why they died so quick.

Isn`t that what I said? You need to be behind cover. If you don`t have any cover near by you die. Also got to consider people are still learning how to fight Matriarch. It might take them a couple tries to figure things out.

And don`t forget not all cover works and the beam sometimes goes through corners. It`s kind of buggy.

Was a reply to "even with cover" comment. Desks and pillars aren't really cover. But I was able to survive without cover. You break line of sight or run up or down some stairs and that works well. I haven't been to a place where you can't run around a fixture in a circle to avoid her. What maps are there 0 cover or obstacles? (General question, not being smart.)

My "even with cover" comment was referring to how much damage the beam does. Take Farmhouse for example. If I run circles around the outside of the barn the beam can knock off about 80 percent of my health before I round the next corner. If my health isn`t at 80 or above then I die. (Or the Edars finish me off.)

That`s why I usually find a vehicle to run circles around or something of similar size. This guarantees I can immediatley dodge the beam the moment it is fired. Running circles around anything the size of the barn is very dangerous and most likely will result in death.

This is just from my personal experience when playing solo. I didn`t know you can dodge the beam by running up or down stairs. That`s a good tip. I`ll have to remember that.

Do we have a thread about the best tips and tricks for fighting Matriarch? That would be a good topic. It could probably help some people.

Yes, I noticed in my long battle yesterday (my hands are still pretty cramped from it tbh) if you cut her line of sight, she stops firing the plasma beam and starts running after you again. And if you cut down stairs and around the railing, if she throws her tentacle at you there is a high chance yes, she will grab you, but she can't pull you to her and do her attack and you can peg her in the head one or 2 times (depending on your type of weapon) before she lets you go and starts running for you again. Also stairs are good because if you run up or down them and then cut around the side of them (if the option is available to not just have to keep going straight) she usually can't attack you until she is at the top or bottom of them because she has to turn. Now, it's not a long pause but it's enough if timed right to peg her with the HRG Incision and turn and run before she can get you(again, medic, so I only know really that gun with her right now and it's too slow of a reload to get 2 shots.)

I don't know if there is a thread for it or not, most posts I see are people upset she is the bad guy or not getting her to spawn.
