I agree, but it won't happen, even if this engine allows it. They just didn't work on it at the start. And god it is a painfully missed chance. IT'S A COOP GAME FOR CHRIST SAKES!

Won't ever happen since the Steam client does not support multiple accounts being signed onto the same machine simultaneously a la Xbox Live on the 360 (i.e: keyboard and mouse assigned to primary account, other users' accounts being tied to controllers).

If we ever get splitscreen in the Killing Floor franchise, it'd most likely have to be its own self-contained game mode with preconfigured perk levels and skills to prevent players from just plugging in 3 controllers configured to be the same perk and farming XP that way.

Kinda what happened to Dungeon Defenders' online scene and why subsequent games are online/solo only.

Then where does Rocket League fit into this? I bought it on Steam, played it almost near-launch and haven't had any problems playing Splitscreen, even online. I don't see why KF2 wouldn't be able to do the same.

Splitscreen in the way i'm describing is how the original Halo 3 handled splitscreen: with each controller being assigned their own Xbox Live profile (as in, progression being tied to multiple accounts rather than just the one), rather than having all players share a singular account

I would assume that progression in Rocket League's less important than it is in KF2. In KF2's case, progression is pretty much mandatory to play on higher difficulty levels, and being able to plug in 3 controllers, have them all be the same perk as the kb/m player and just having dummy players in a local multiplayer game would be something of a cheat code since you'll artificially increase the amount of XP per game that you'd get since the scenario i'm describing would allow split-screen abusers to gain much more XP than they normally would in a solo or online game (if all 4 split-screen players are a Commando belonging to the same steam account, then the dummy players would only serve to feed XP to Player 1).

A couple years back, I've made this thread in response to the insistence that KF2 should be a split-screen game, as I figured that my idea's the only realistic way to add split-screen in a way that would prevent "play with your friends locally" from being used as "farm free XP that you wouldn't get in other game modes"

I was going to ask if he even played Helldivers with various controls on the PC with some buds, but the fact that I see different games with different methods of split screen makes this more fascinating.
