firebug on boss?
I feel like I do nothing against bosses, I run shotgun/flamethrower/spitfire. Im almost level 20 and esp on King Fleshpoung towards the end I feel like im shooting a water gun at his shield. I usually just stick to killing quarter pounders / general trash when on boss rounds shooting the boss to panic them.

How do I get better at dealing damage to bosses as firebug? Also what is the general role of firebug on boss rounds? Am I doing something wrong with focusing trash?

The firebug's job during boss fights is holding off trash and crowd controlling the boss when they go for melee attacks. I get the most milage with MWG/trenchgun. The MWG works well against trash and its alt fire can help against Hans and KFP. The trenchgun on the other hand will give you a bit of burst damage and has good enough stagger to help hold the boss back along side some good afterburn. I've found the spitfires work nice for stacking up damage, but I've found the trenchgun's stagger more useful.

TL;DR; don't play FB on boss wave. Patty and Hans have trash spawns, where he's mildly useful, but KFP is a no-go. Heat Wave can be good occasionally, but it isn't enough to justify his presence.

You don't play Firebug on Boss pretty much. He's only mildly useful against Hans, because Hans has a weakness to fire and even in his enraged, suck-a-person-to-heal mode, he will always dash to avoid ground fire. Patty, while using his minigun, is stationary except for HoE, so you can do a little bit of damage there by religiously stacking ground fire on him.

Firebug won't do anything to KFP. Even his Quarter Pounders take far too long to kill on higher difficulties, where a Demo can just vaporize them with one good RPG. Heat Wave can only apply every few seconds, as does fire panic, which lasts less than 4 seconds.

He's exclusively a trash killer and a very very powerful and efficient one, matched only by his complete inability to do anything meaningful to big Zeds.

The Microwave Gun is decent at damaging the bosses. Trench gun is your second best option, but it's still doing much less damage than playing support with better shotguns.

Flamethrowers are not really worth using on the boss.

As others have said, Firebug is one of the worst classes to play against the bosses, because they have massive damage resistance for DoTs like Bleed and Burning.

Thank you, im not one tricking or anything. I could just switch to demo or support depending on what the team needs.

IT depends

you have a 1-in-3 chance or a 66% chance to be useful. You can have a good job taking out trash zeds with the patriarch and hans. However; in the case of king fleshpound, it's subjective.
It's best to use the microwave gun and in addition a trenchgun for backup.

The microwave gun is great at bosses since it's alt-fire pushes them back a bit and stumbles them a little, kinda like an airblast or the dwarve's axe in KF1 knockback.

Your main job however in the end boss wave is to take care of trash and if need be use fire to your advantage (especially useful against the patriarch to see him easily if you dont have c4 or a commando).

The microwave gun does extra damage against them because all 3 bosses are littered to the brim with metal, but the damage is still minimum against other classes/perks like sharpshooter, demolitions, and support.

in the case of the patriarch it's best to see where he's gonna run off to for when he's low on health, and start both blocking his path or throw fire/moltovs for the trash zeds that try to run into your teammates to halt your path.

For hans you can throw fire near where he's following a teammate. If he's pinned it helps immensely, and the same if he catches a teammate to heal

against king fleshpound it is highly unadvised because you can cause him to range AND cause him to spawn more quater pounders. The only thing i can think off being useful is his shield and when he fires a lazer that's not at you but at a teammate, since he stands still. The alt blast still works to stumble him back/knockback but with damage, again it's minimum.

With the trenchgun, however; you have a better backup weapon for bosses, especially against trash zed. STill, the reload time will set you back a bit

as for perk skills i highly recommend picking the all R's (rights) if you want crowd control. If you don't wanna risk it being king fleshpound or hans use all L's (left) for damage and damage overtime. You can mix and match but then you may probably choose the wrong loadouts

my best tip is to change perk if you have already crowd control perks (a commando or swat will do) and choose either another support (medic, zerker for blocking, or support class for suppressing fire and heals/boosts if you use all L's on medic) or a damage class like sharpshooter, gunslinger, or demolitions.

If you have enough damage classes but few crowd control, you can stay firebug and help if any trash zeds come your way, but still get a trenchgun if there's enough dosh

Flamethrower is only good against hans.
The other 2 bosses has high resistance to them because of that the flamethrower is very weak against Pat and KFP.

Microwave is the safer choice and with better range than the flame thrower.

Nothing wrong with using a Firebug on boss waves.
DPS might be lower than other classes but with low recoil you will miss less than other classes.
