The key to beat the Matriarch
There is a secret to make the Matriarch from being by faaaaaaaaaar the hardest boss to downright pathetic:

target her cannon first!!! (very important because all of her menacing attacks came from that damn cannon) If her cannon breaks, she will not spawn any EDAR and her cannon is out of use too which gives you much more breathing air. The best perk to do this is sharpshooter because it only took 3 M99 shots to break her cannon and you can aim much better compare to other perks.

If you broke her cannon, you can basically call it a GG because all of her other attacks are really easy to dodge and EDARs aren't really that much of a threat as well (except for trappers where you should really focus on them first).

Also important: you can only damage her cannon if she decided to use it against you, so try to time everything correct. Ppractice it on easier difficulty to be more accurate

pretty sure the edars spawn either way on specific HP points, also she will lower the shields on all attacks, not only the cannon ones, but yeah, the basic idea is correct.

Very easy way to face the Matriarch in HOE with any perk:
  1. Find an object or obstacle that allows you to run in a circle to avoid the electric cannon.
  2. Let him make his attack so she deactivates his shield and you focus his cannon. If she fire his plasma cannon, stick very close to it on the left side and shoot the cannon without taking damage (just like the Patriarch Minigun). With firebug help more with fire resistance.
  3. Once the cannon is destroyed, focus on destroying your helmet or taking 50% of your health. Do not destroy their shield, or you will call the edars blasters.
  4. And now with no cannon and destroyed armor, it becomes a king fleshpound style. Simple and avoid its metal claw, remember to kill the edars first so they don't bother you.

Personally, I don't see her too strong anymore. Maybe it depends on map or perk or weapon situations. But I must say that his metal claw does very serious damage or even his tentacle is very annoying if you do not manage to give him parry.

I personally find all of her attacks to be easy to dodge, everytime she tries to claw me I always sprint away and she misses her attack without me even noticing. There are a few times she didn't even deal a single damage to me and only edar blasters managed to hit me
Edit: I never knew that you can bash her tentacle away, well, that is another cherry on the cake

Exactly the Matriarch was always an easy boss but most players rather complain than to figure out how to easily beat her.

Damn right, I used to struggle against her, however after I found out about all of her weaknesses I feel like she is much easier than Hans.

If you play something like Commando or SWAT against Hans, you pretty much signed your death warrant, in case of matty, it's entirely possible to beat her swiftly as Commando or SWAT

Only problem with her is the Edars tbh, she's also pretty tanky.

Once all 5 of your team mates died in HoE and you're alone once the Edar wave hit its hard to deal with all the edar shenanigans while a Matriarch thirsting for blood is running right after you.

Exactly the same thing happened to me. Playing with 5 players in suicidal in stream fortress and we met her. What happened?

> All my team died
> As a Medic, with my insertion I failed to heal my team and was left alone against it.
> With an effort to make it not hurt too much I almost managed to finish it off.
> It passes its last stage, which is when it becomes invisible, and the damn edars arrive.
> They outnumber me and I was very nervous that she surprised me and killed me.

Matty is bullshitly hard on a 6p match, unless everyone go level 25 sharpshooter with M99, there is no way a 6p match are going to be complete without at least 3 people dying horribly.
I was able to beat her with my 5 comrades somehow on suicidal, we were able to beat her with only 2 teammates dead (actually I pretty much spammed healthrower on my teammates as med)

I played with 6p teams on HOE and on uncommon occasions we get decent players no one ever dies.
On one occasion we literally stomped her.
A medic with a double barrel stomp stun lock her 80% of the battle.

With good teammates and proper game knowledge every boss battle is pretty boring.

You don't even need to destroy her cannon to trivialize her, any corner will work. If theres a box of walls anywhere on the map its pretty much already GG as soon as she spawns.

Its pretty pathetic. Not even the Patriarch is countered by corners that hard. Matriarch can't land a single attack if you go around a corner. If you play it right she will literally never hit you. It just becomes a boring game of taking potshots before rounding the corner, until she dies. Takes like 15m if your the only player and its just not a lot of fun.

Always bring C4 on Medic if you have room, its great for Patriarch and Matriarch because then you have constant vision on them from the floating C4 plus the beeping noise when they are close. Plus detonating that C4 when the Patriarch runs away is helpful for quick kills. Plus C4 is useful for saving team mates that get surrounded outside of boss waves.

He she he she he she.

Good lord. Your pronouns dysfunctional.

I sometimes recommend a commando for this one reason; they reveal cloaked beings, making it easier for the rest of the team to avoid/hit them.

Recommend the following
Commando to reveal cloaked Zeds and trash killing; AK-12 and Stoner 63A LMG.
Demolitionist for heavy damage; M32 and M16.
Firebug for trash and medium; Dual Spitfires for trash and Husk Cannon or Microwave Gun for medium.
Support for medium and heavy; HZ12, M4 (both fully upgraded) or AA-12 for medium and Doomstick for heavy.
Field Medic for Healing; Healthrower; HMTech-501; all skills should be left

I find these layouts very effective against most bosses, except the Patriarch as he keeps running off and healing, making it hard to keep him under fire.

I find a fully upgraded Hemogoblin to best one of the best weapons the Field Medic can use on the Matriarch to not only "tag" her with bleed-out darts to slow her down, but to also de-buff her attacks so they won't be as devastating.
