they're working on 2 unannounced games right now..... but they've been giving their games as exclusive to epic games recently.... so im not really hyped....

Never. Wave shooters are outdated, old, unfun, tired and we dont need a third game when the 2nd game already does everything a 3rd could posibly do. KF3 is litearly pointless and it would be worse than 2 as 2 was worse than 1.

kf3 with updated next gen graphics, and take everything from 1 and 2 throw it away and make something totally different, something that will be fun to play.

lol, why even call in Killing Floor when you want it to be a car racing game?

why is it called killing floors when the floors don't kill and you don't kill floors?

KF3 is coming in about 5 years don't worry 5 and half years bud

There's no need for KF3, they need to work on the game, add better maps/mechanics on KF2 and some new enemies and not on this obvious wave rotation.
I'm sure they can create new maps with interesting levels of progression, escalating combat in a more frightened way and cool objectives for defending areas.

The game is stuck on wave progression which eventually becomes boring (you kill zeds, collect money spend it on same upgrades, end of story).

I would love to see some different approach on how we spend dosh on upgrades, perhaps some weapon skills upgrades depending on the situation/boss/etc. (team combos and so on)

To keep someone intrigued and ♥♥♥♥ his pants, it takes more than just a giant berserker.
You need to create the right atmosphere, maybe some area blackouts with light rays showing very little of enemy whereabouts, traps (loose floor tiles breaking -repairing etc), ground shaking effects, crows, etc. Overall new ideas to create a scary and intriguing environment.

So you don't want a Killing Floor game then?

Regardless of what's happened to Epic since 2016 (that juicy Fortnite cash, moneyhatting on EGS, etc.) in the years since their first partnership, I can't blame Tripwire for having some loyalty to them.

Way back in the day, it was the triumph of TWI successfully claiming grand prize in Epic's "Make Something Unreal" engine (mod) competition that provided Tripwire with its first substantial influx of cash towards development budget that allowed them to expand into a 'legit' studio.

Red Orchestra, Killing Floor 1 -- these were born out of that Epic competition prize money.
And it wasn't a contentious victory; Tripwire had the best Unreal mod at the time. Well earned.

So these two companies have some serious history together, despite Steam opening the door to million-plus sales of KF2 after.

There's no doubt the deals in 2020 that had Maneater (UE 4) and KF2 (UE 3) on Epic's store provided Tripwire with some valuable incentives and more game visibility -also some liquid to boost in-development projects and defrayed costs towards for-profit Unreal license extensions, etc.

What many perceive as 'scummy' practices by Epic with its game store/portal, others have benefited from. Staff have benefited from. Sometimes it can be the difference between a studio fizzling out and dying, or having the resources on hand to pay their staff and continue for another 1-2 years. That Epic cash has been a lifesaver for some studios, and while TWI wasn't at risk of folding, it absolutely helped their viability.

Anyway, the Killing Floor IP expanded to console this generation and grew its user base pretty significantly. It was previously a popular niche PC title only. While not a huge AAA property, there's likely sufficient interest in the Killing Floor IP to produce a third game in the series - multiplatform again - and with several Unreal Engine 4 licenses reserved by Tripwire, there's credible signs to indicate the franchise will continue in the future.

That's pretty great. And it's really help with their niche type of games.

Also, Rising Storm 2 Vietman it's got free weekend on epic, so that's also a boost!

I doubt it, though we could potentially get bonus items for owning various things, unlocked achievements, etc. I've seen other games do some kind of loyalty scheme as such.

That said, KF weapons and character DLC are still tied to the original game, not to mention the fact people still play KF1. I don't see this being any different with KF2 if and when KF3 comes out.
