Matchmaking vs Server Browser
Why do players continue to use matchmaking despite its nonoptimal results?

-Generally speaking; its faster to use matchmaking to have the game pop you in a random server than it is to open the server browser; and manually browse to find something.

-Unfortunately; I think since a lot of people have turned off server take-over; and a lot of people are trying to use matchmaking for custom maps; that's why you see a lot of complaints that matchmaking is broken.

-If they put in a "max acceptable ping" in matchmaking; and returned better messages; it would go a long way in the "why isn't this working".. probably.

-The matchmaking system also isn't smart enough to not insert you into a match that is on boss wave which is a complain I also see once in a while.

Because it is a feature provided by the developers so new players can quickly and easily find a match.

New player doesnt equal drooling idiot who cant figure out how to use the server browser.

I've experianced match making on PS4. Its horrible. No way I'd ever use that.

matchmaking in FPS games is always garbage compared to manually selecting a server you want.

the time you waste on loading in a dumb server chosen by matchmaking is a lot worse than taking the 30 seconds to manually select a server you want.

I never realy had problems with matchmaking. I use it when i quickly want to get into a game, and it gets the job done

And new players shouldn't fear that FILTER button in the server browser.
Take 10 seconds to go in there and toggle some options that suit your needs, Apply, profit.

You can also click the Difficulty/Map/Ping bars on top of the server browser to prioritize how those results are displayed.

And of course, remember to save the servers you enjoy as a 'Favorite' by highlighting server, clicking Details, and click the star icon.

Matchmaking is for casuals, people who would be playing minesweeper otherwise. They just want to hop on, click join, play for 5 minutes and log out.

Well, honestly matchmaking should be only designed for "vanilla content servers".(tripwire official servers only)

Or like any server without custom maps and non-official modification add-ons.

And yea, not leading you to excessive high latency and the game already started servers.

Should be, is, shouldn't be, all a matter of opinion. What did TWI intend the match maker to be for?

They didn't intend anything, they had to add it for consoles.

Oh, it was for compatibility then.

Matchmaking really isn't worth it nowadays since the chances are very high that you'll end up in some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Vin no fun server.

but can't using the "Server Browser" feature also potentially have the chance to display those dumbass servers as well?
