[help?] swapping triggers and buttons (gamepad)

ok, let me get acouple things out of the way...
1. this is the frist of my posting to this here "forum" so... hello ! :)
2. i am not "lame" but not fully able to "grasp" this "scenerio" fully, yet...

ok.. i am looking to modify the "KFInput.ini" to hopefully handle this, so i dont have to have sum 3rd party "button mapper" isnt being used...
basically all im lookin to do is....

go from the default layout of;

LB = ironsights/zoom
LT = gernade
RB = alt.fire
RT = bang bang bang..

to this...
LB = Gernade
LT = ironsights/zoom
RB = bang bang
RT = alt.fire

i tried once to modifiy said file, but within the .ini there are so many different references to gamepad usage.. i dont know which to alter, leave alone or waht...
sorry for the story.
ive got a bad habit of babbling..

these should be the one you're looking for, mind you i dont use controller, but thing is whatever command you wanna change, change last line in the quote into other command line for the binding.

if u want weapon select from Y to X

E.g :......... "xboxtypeS_Y"....... "GBA_weaponselect_gamepad"
To ........ "xboxtypeS_X"....... "GBA_weaponselect_gamepad"

if that didn't help you can delete the file and after restarting the game it will go back to default, or just make backup. hope this helps.

having the file read only won't make you save the changes you made in the first place, unless you mean you changed after you changed the settings.

1. opened kfinput.ini (not read only at the moment)
2. performed a backyard abortion in hopes of making things better... (yes.. it was brutal)
3. saved kfinput.ini
4. put a chastity belt on her... (now its read only)
------ thinking if i make it read only after my changes, then only a *update* or watever would just end up replacing kfinput.ini with default regardless, but until that update.. yea

now. i doubt i made sense. but im high.. so. blame that... or the fact i think im a clever lil guy sumtimes and fail soo hard at it...

this is weird, the default gamepad controls have aim mapped to LT and grenade on LB, not how you have. What controller are you using?

your correct on that particular point. i made a mistake in my question...
lb = aim and gernade being LT.. * using a generic a$$ dualshock3/ps3 controller that i like how it feels in my hands :p *
so, basically i just want to swap the the left triger with the left bumper and the same with the right side..
so

rt changes to rb
rb is then rt

and do the same the other side...
sorry for the confusion and good eyes pointing that out :)

ahh, I got it. PS3 controllers and their clones have pretty bad triggers, very uncomfortable for long term use.

good news is it's doable, bad news is it's only doable via software.
OR you could launch Steam Big Picture and there's a config option that lets you customize your controller to have any input you want, no third party software needed.

but your best bet is just getting a PS4 controller if you can, it's amazing.

i hear ya.. i am guessing your gonna toss out 3rd party software like. pinnacle, antimicro, reWASD, uhm.. motionjoy. uhmm.. or possibly do u have some others ive overlooked or missed? if so, ill gladly go check them out....

the only software I've used is for xinput controllers and tbh I don't remember the name. it's just a random thing I googled and it worked.

i may end up going that clunky, un-interestimg way of "big picture mode" if i get desperate.. what is even crazier? my display is a uhm.. 120' -ish flatscreen tv, u would think "big picture mode" wouldnt be as lame as it is. but it sure is...
thanks tho...

alittle upsetting tripwire doesnt allow for remapping of a controller in the game's settings
or a little more effective way of modifiying the config.ini files :/

oh well, sometimes a person just doesnt ever get what they want.

you only have to do the reconfiguring part in big picture, launching is fine through default steam)
