Theyre suggesting both the medic rifle first and foremost, and the shotgun as a backup weapon, which is entirely correct. The medic shotgun's buffs have made it extremely strong for most zeds and its healing output isnt bad either. What was so hard to understand about what they said? the lack of punctuation?
All medic weapons heal the same, this is correct. The main thing that makes all the difference in the world is the number of charges of healing darts, and how fast they recharge darts. Being able to fire more healing darts at more targets keeps more of your team alive when they, and you, need it.
The medic rifle has 3 charges of healing darts, and to go from no darts to all 3 takes about 9-10 seconds, while the Hemogoblin only has 2 charges and takes about 12-13 seconds to recharge. Medic rifle is better for healing.
Shotgun and Hemogoblin seem to take the same amount of time to recharge the darts and they both only have 2 charges you can use, its a matter of do you yourself want to do more damage, then you take the shotgun, if you want to help your team out, take the hemogoblin.
Medic rifle is always something you should have as medic because the healing output from it, while numerically, is the exact same, the quicker recharge time for the healing darts makes a giant difference, thus letting you heal more.
The hemoglobin darts heal more hp per dart than the other medic weapons. The rifle has 10 second recharge, 9 after upgrade. Hemo has 12 second recharge, 7.2 second after both upgrades. The recharge rate, dart recharge usage, and heal per dart are adjusted so both weapons have the same heal speed.
you can press m2 and heal people with your default syringe healer but with med guns you gotta press alt fire (btw you can rebind if you don't like m3 the mouse wheel or on some mice the middle button, i binded mine to the z key and voice commands to the x key as well as throw dosh to the wheeldown key on the mouse wheel).
it locks on if you stay looking at the allies long enough. It also is lock on so it means that it follows them no matter which direction they move unless they move behind an obstacle. You don't have to be scoped to lock on just look at them long enough and once you hear the tick sound you'll know you're locked on
