Edit: Going to test if it works for me, just needs a while until the download finishes.
- The server browser does not work on the Epic Games version
- You have to use the "find game" or "create game" feature
- Sometimes the game can't find any servers, so you have to repeat it and hope for the best - but the same happened with the Steam version too whenever there was a free weekend
- Also, on first run(s), the game opens a Epic Games website where you need to allow that the game may use things like your Epic Games username. Seems this could have an impact on the ability to join a server.
