Perks where you can kill more trash an other players (think perks like firebug, swat, mando) are great for leveling fast on multiplayer so long as you are killing a lot - this is assuming you are killing most of the zeds in order to make the time investment worth it. if you are getting the slow lane or if you arent able to outkill the other trash killer on your team then your xp per hour will decrease a lot.
Just make sure you kill the boss at the end since this will grant you a lot of xp.
However for other perks that dont do as well at killing the large number of trash you are better off playing a map you can easily complete and farming bosses on endless (kill like the first 2 bosses and then restart), tbh this is prolly faster than the other method for both if you get really fast (killing a boss every 3-5 min on hard is already like 15k-20 xp an hour not including the other zeds) but personally i find this grind really f*cking boring and dont advise it.
After wave 10 the bosses start getting tankier and the waves longer so you end up reducing your xp per hour.
Just remember to play on hard or above and make sure you are killing the boss.
assists are the main reason i'd say multiplayer is better for xp along with more zeds, solo can be fine tho especially if you don't really want to put up with other people and the mistakes they might make

Zerker= more xp killing enemis near players
Medic=healing
Support=weld doors or fix doors people fix along with another support fully fix a door in one 10p% charge weld from both people.
Demo= killing fleshpounds but more better all R and m32 + m79 combo to clear trash that spawn alot more in multiplayer, or focus on big zeds / fleshpounds entirely get someone else to kill every other zed.
Sharp=allies cover your ass against trash your main counter.
Commando and swat definetely solo to kill clots and stalkers.
firebug and survivalist work either or but in multiplayer you get more zeds so it helps more. Even assists help
assists help too tbh in multiplayer. Even if you dont kill a zed you get xp from them by tagging them.
Depends on map, right corridors are the best, open maps will need fb to use ballistics, else other perks will kill trash before he can do anything or even assist.
Overall endless 5 waves quit and repeat if not the best it would be middle ground for most perks excluding demo, medic.
Mostly b/c fast trash killing and boss killing.
Sorta also for the kill X bosses in the seasonal objectives.
This is the fastest, however multiplayer is the funn-est
