You basically keep kiting them with groundfire until they enter fire panic, where all you do is just keep laying ground fire in front of them. It will take awhile to kill them on your own so obviously this tactic is a last resort.
If you take an offhand weapon that is good against larger zeds it will help. Freezethrower will help a lot with Scrakes and unraged FPs and you can carry it with the Flamethrower, and the Husk Cannon will help with further away ZEDs and FPs of any sort.
If you don't want either of those weapons or they cost to much just try to run away from Scrakes / Fleshpounds and let your team handle them while you keep trash off them. Or you can buy a Microwave gun, but this hurts your trash killing power and I don't think you can carry a Flamethrower with it so you'd be stuck with CnB, Spitfires, Dragonbreath, or Mac 10 for trash (or an offperk weapon like the P90).
If you want to use the Flamethrower thou the best answer is to just try not to light big zeds on fire unless you have to protect yourself or a team mate they are raging at.
but firebug should not be engaging large zeds unless its nessesary let your team handle the large ones while you clean out trash
Napalm perk is the best for kitting them. Since you wont need to waste to much ammo on them because of the overtime damage.
The Heat wave perk is a "must have" to kill big zed. Trying to connect it after the zed ran away in flame CC'CrowdCountrol' is the only course of action.
So use the fire CC, then heatwave perk has you always run foward gaining time to unable the CC again. Loop
If stuck HS is the key with both gun. Getting 100% bigger magazine will permit you to open a way has you deal with the big zed.
If you get to lvl 25 and that there is a zedtime poping infinite ammo is your best bet has you might kill evrything in sight with it. Mac 10 for sc and Dragonbreath for FP.
Microwave for FP
Aim the forearm with the lazer.
Use alternate fire to shove hem back or to kill more then 1 at the same time.
Microwave for SC
Aim chainsaw with regular.
Use alt. fire to shove back.
Husk canon can kill all big zed but require almost perfect aiming with the slow projectile it fires. It also need to be upgraded and using alternate charged shot.
Caulker/flamethrower
Its the same way then using mac10/dragonbreath.
But there it will take more time has it deals far less dmg to big zed.
and on lvl 25 perk picking the deal more dmg with fire is you'r best bet. But it will only help when stuck.
If there a demo/sharpshooter. Let them fire the first shot if they are there.
Don't pick slow unless you intend to mob/support. eh nvm just dont pick it unless you use flamethrower/caulker.
Cocktail molotov/grenade.
Best used on Scrake has it deals alot of dmg.
If its the scrake wave in endless.... 1 at a time... Wait until you disperse 1 from the group or rage 1 with the 9mm or wait for others that will rage them.
Its not easy to do and will require a few try. As for the spitfire... well ask other i never used them in this 1 exept when I use the microwavegun or husk canon.
Never do this. Later waves, left-spec is actually better and gives you far more freedom with the extra range.
If solo - a left-spec bug can empty pistols to soften up a SC or FP, then finish them with a trench with ease, headshots or no. Possible even in MP HoE with headshots, although doing so is highly likely to annoy your teamates, 'cos panicked enemies on fire are a royal pain to get a bead on and you'll have your slinger and sharp outright missing shots that were easy until you got involved. Also, whilst you're shooting bigs, you're not doing your job of keeping the trash at bay.
If you absolutely must shoot scrakes or FPs with a Bug, always make sure someone else is ready for the kill and only fire - 1: from directly behind them, so you don't yank aggro and make them run to the side - and 2: only *after* they have raged and gotten within swinging distance of your team (lefty-spec's knockback actually shines here if you're packing a trench or MWG).
MWG does good damage but you should be there as a backup incase people are about to get KO'd by 3 raging fleshpounds. Run heatwave and alt-fire spam the MWG blasts to both stumble scrakes, and on fps fire panic them. Otherwise on a non-lvl 25 firebug you'll chew through your ammo.
In all cases aim for the head always!
for bosses i'd recommend getting ballistic weaponary since the MWG works mostly on KFP, and on hanz you panic him too much that it's hard to aim.
ballistic helps with all L perk skills in both cases.
at lvl 25 with pyromaniac is your best bet to do insane damage, especially with alt-fire MWG blasts, and after the zed time ends you can keep spamming without having lost any ammo.
you can also vouch for a trenchgun but on fps won't help much, on scrakes does decent damage.
do not use a flamethrower since fps and scrakes have resistances to fire (but microwaves not so much).
also go all L since all L is damage perks. All right is mostly for taking out trash only and with flamethrowers.
this is on multiplayer.
on solo you can more than take out big zeds with just headshot spams or groundfire and all L perk skills.
mwg alternate fire, push them away, get that timing right and kill sc and fp pretty easily
