Do pistols reload faster when completely empty or some bullets in the mag?
First noticed this with the AF2011's when i chewed through my ammo, both mags reloaded at the same time while if it had even 2 bullets left it'd reload the mags 1 at a time.

Sure feels like it after TW changed it so Gunslingers couldn’t abuse relaod cancelling anymore.

ah
so does it work with all weapons then empty mags reload faster than semi-full mags?

It’s an individual case. For example, the AA-12 reloads slightly faster and can fire faster with reload cancelling if you reload it when all bullets are out. But the same does not seem to work with the nailgun.

And a few weapons reload at the same speed regardless of ammo available, like the Husk Cannon.

also realized some shell shotguns reload way slower if you have no shells inside the mag

They made reload animations really cool.
If you have some bullets left, character takes out the mag from gun, puts new mag in, and puts old mag in their pocket.
If mag is empty, then they just drop it on the floor.

Cool thing they did with dual pistols is when you have only 1 bullet left in a mag. They drop empty mag from first pistol and put mag with 1 bullet from second pistol in their pocket.

Only shotguns with 1 by 1 shell reload are exceptions. They reload slower when shotgun is empty because how they put first shell in.

i did not notice that
wow

good info to know but what i was asking was if empty mags reload more than mags with a couple bullets left but seeing as how you said that now it makes sense

Yes it's faster because just dropping mag is much faster than taking it out and putting it in pocket.
If you look at both reloads in 3rd person it will make perfect sense

Depends. Generally dry reloads have slightly faster timers to refresh ammo counters.

Weapon stats spreadsheat was already linked, and the Tripwire Wiki also has stats for all the reload speeds (including dry and tactical, for both regular and elite.) :flowey:
However I am somewhat of the resident Gunslinger nut after writing an essay on the difference between the AF2011 and the .500 Magnums, so I do have a little bit of research knowledge for the handguns. Generally speaking all the magazine fed pistols (9mm, HM-Tech 001, M1911, Deagles, and AF2011) reload faster when out of ammo. (You will drop both empty magazines before reloading them both at once, as opposed to reloading each gun seperately.) Both of the dual revolvers (1858s/.500s) reload faster when reloaded tactically, though strangely enough the single 1858 is reloaded faster when dry. The exception to the revolver reload speed rule is the Spitfires Flare Pistols, which you shouldn't be buying on Gunslinger anyways, but they reload faster if there's still a "bullet" in the chamber.

huh makes some sense
also i was mostly curious since i run AF2011's ALOT as GS and just wanted to know if it applied to all other guns/revolvers
