Curious about the Rae Higgins hate.

I dont get it? why do peeps hate her so much?

Probably because she has an annoying voice and her design looks even more out of place than Tom Banner's medieval knight look. I can also mention other reasons regarding Ana Larive's former "only female character" status

Because of her voice, even though it's perfectly fine. I saw a guy that hated Rae because of her "pretentious and arrogant delivery of her voice lines". No idea what that was about, but it sounded like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to me.

Not even trying to be THAT guy (believe me, I can't stand SJWs), but it does seem like gamers tend to dislike females unless they wear skintight clothes and sound and look like a pornstar.

Same reason people have disliked fake-accent trader since EA. Simple as that. Oddly, no one gets all morally outraged about not liking the trader voice, but people get all sensitive about Rae for some reason.

Personally, I liked playing her for a while, just for grins.

I mean thats weird..... her voice dont bother me atall....and the whole out of place thing makes no sense either due to throughout kf history over 80% of the playerable characters have been destabalized nutjobs after reading their bios..... but eh after reading all these replies what i find most confusing is ive been seeing literaly 0 hate for D.A.R eventhough all it does is beep and say voicelines from every character hated or not...

I actually tend to speak up against the new trader hate. There's nothing wrong with her if I'm being honest. In fact, I consider the old trader to be hot garbage. All she did was talk about how much she liked the big ones, and other sexual jokes.

I'm probably sounding like someone trying to be hip and cool, but I actually never liked DAR. He was always too out of place for me, and ugly. In KF2, he's still out of place and now he's even uglier. And what little charm he had was replaced with reused voice lines with a filter on top of them.

To append to Ana's former "only female character", I think having just one playable female character would make sense in a post-apocalyptic context. Can't exactly have too many women fighting the zeds when there's also the need to reproduce. Have fewer women killing the zeds and the worst case scenario would be "humanity's extinction is delayed by 2-3 generations", and if the apocalypse were to be cancelled, the human race would actually have a chance to survive past several centuries.

Having additional playable female characters, I think would devalue the gravity of this whole "apocalypse" thing.

Strangely enough while i hated the trader in kf1 and miss the portal personality core being the trader so bad i actualy kinda want the kf1 trader back as a playable character....if only to try and fight off scrakes with a knife and fail miserably

i'd say its the high pitched voice. the rockabilly look tends to also annoy but that might be mainly because of the voice agravating in the first place.

for some reason i dont really buy she is aussie even though she actually is, when i heard the voice actor in dead island i assumed it was just a fake accent.

I liked the old trader. Liked her voice, and only two out of about 50 lines of her dialogue were sexual innuendo. (The one you mention, and "I want you close, babe.") It amazes me how much people fixate on those two lines out of 50, like that was all she said or something.

The thing I dislike about new trader is her suggestions to me like I'm an idiot that doesn't know I need ammo. And no I don't want armor on wave 2, just stop talking lady.

I know voice acting in video games tends to be pricy, I will not deny i think Raes voice actress was hired on a small budget, annnd she sounds more new zealand then aussie.... but maybe thats because i have freinds in new zealand who sound just like her which admitedly maybe the main reason i dont find her voice hard to live with.

if anything this game does need more characters, i realise adding assets with voice acting can be costly, but id like to see more characters from kf1 make an appearance
