Would love to know if the steampunk E.D.A.R. skin is obtainable from this seasonal event. If not, you guys missed a good opportunity to release it (either along with the "steampunk outfit" reward, or via the tickets/boxes.
Could also finally add more accessories to D.A.R. by even having things like the various E.D.A.R. items (rockets on shoulders, the extra plated armor, etc.)
Most damage nerfs were done to conpensate for upgrading weapons/gear, and weight was added, so you can't just carry around buttloads of very strong weapons. (cause & effect)
I do agree with you though that they nerfed the damage of the berserkers eviscerator a lot. While prior, it was indeed powerful, it only made short work of enemies if you hit the head.
I think while some damage might of needed to be lowered, they should of perhaps focused more on the cost of ammo, or increased the eviscerators price to match the damage it dealt.
I second that sentiment!
That's exactly why I think they need to add a shooting range mode where we can test damage thresholds on zeds and try new builds with ease. This is especially important with the rate at which new content is being released and weapons are being buffed/nerfed.
Agreed. Would be nice to have an official test map.
Especially when new weapons are released; it'd be cool to test them out, without having to go through the waves/saving up money.
In order for me to efficiently test out stuff, I have to use a workshop map, that only works by running a command to load it. (It allows it for waves to stay at 1/"trader" indefinitely, buy any weapon, and summon any mob. (It's not whitelisted, so you don't retain any perk exp.)
Would be nice to have an official version of this tho.
Can someone tell me how to join in the update?
yea i have the same problem
Prestige System
This was the main reason I've decided to play the beta version. I was excited about this because one of my main problems with the game was that after I got all the achievements and didn't get XP anymore, there wasn't any goal for me. I really liked it, the rewards and the XP bonus felt reasonable, but I was kinda disappointed because of the lack of achievements. And I was saddened to learn that you can only prestige a class once which is really not that much. I'm guessing this is subject to change, but the next update is far away and who knows if this will get enough priority to be implemented neatly.
New Maps
Lockdown: Good job, something I would expect from Tripwire.
Airship: I have mixed feelings. In one hand, it's really nice, maybe the best looking map and it's not a bad map either, but... It must be me who interpret it the wrong way but I thought this was gonna be an Objective Mode map. Now I just cheked, it was said it's "our first Objective style Survival map". I really liked the KFO maps in KF1 and I was expecting Airship to be something like those (especially since this is connected to KFO-Steamland) which might be my fault.
New Weapons
Doomstick: It's just too good. Wish its weight was 10 so I wouldn't have to choose between this and AA12. (Then I would want both of them to be 9s so I could upgrade them both... The greed...)
Static Strikers: They are also really good. I only used them during the 1st beta so I don't know how much they were nerfed tho.
Goreshiv: I wasn't a big fan of the design to be honest but I will probably get used to it.
M99 AMR: Well, this is a gun I didn't really like in KF1 (because of its weight) and I haven't really tried it since I prestiged Sharpshooter (and it's kinda expensive) so I can't say anything relevant but from what I heard it's not half bad, so I will definitely check it out.
Weapon Upgrade System
I didn't like the downgrade the Tier 4 weapons got so I was happy that they were reverted back to Tier 4 (and 5). I wasn't thrilled about the upgrade system but after playing it for a few weeks I've got used to it and actually it's not bad. (Although it might need more balancing in the future.)
Weapon Balance
I don't like when things I got used to get changed, especially if it's nerfing, although I admit some things need to get nerfed. But the nerf the Eviscerator got is a bit too severe. It was OP but in its current form I don't even want to use it. Maybe it would be a good compromise to make it a Tier 5 weapon (with the original weight) and give it a similar damage than what it was before the update. Also, poor Railgun... (I know its damage was nerfed so the M99 would stand out but still...) Most of the balacing seemed reasonable, I won't get into details.
Difficulty Balance
The game feels harder than before (for me, at least). I don't really mind that becuase if a game's hardest difficulty can be beaten relatively easily than there's something wrong there. Although adding EDARs and Quarter Pounds to Volter's spawn pool seems a bit too much. (Especially since now the only thing that made the King Fleshpound somewhat a challenge can be found at Volter's arsenal. Maybe add regular Fleshpounds too, so the King Fleshpound will feel like more of a challenge too?)
Mrs Foster
Haven't tried / bought her but the price looks okay considering how much the outfits cost. Hoped it will be available in the steam store so it could get on sale once... (Never used the ingame store so I don't know if there are sales or anything like that there but I'm guessing there are not.)
Items / Zedconomy / Summer Objectives
I like the new Tier 2 skins and the Prestige rewards. They are really nice.
E.D.A.R.
My thoughts...
... when they were first mentioned: "I don't think they will fit in the game since this is a zombie shooter and these are robots... But I have faith in TW that they will make this work."
... during the first beta: "Well, these are annoying as ♥♥♥♥. (Also they don't really fit in.) But I have faith in TW that they will balance them."
... after the WWAUT between the betas: "This might just work if they do this right...
... during the second beta: "Nope. No EMP and they are still bad. But maybe in the next beta update... I still have faith."
... after the live update: "No more beta? And I don’t really feel any difference... "
I really don't like them. I could write a wall of text but to be short, they just don't fit in; not just their style but their mechanics either, and they feel too tanky and strong. I rather fight a Fleshound than an EDAR to be honest.
Also, this begs the question what to do with them? I wouldn't say something like "just remove them ffs" because I'm sure you worked a lot on them and dropping them entirely would be a huge waste. In my opinion they would work much better as a weekly/mutation and/or maybe Hell on Earth only enemies.
Weekly Outbreaks (Which was not part of this update but I think it deserves a mention.)
Or the lack of said otbreaks. This feature was introduced 1 year ago, and since then I was expecting / hoping that we will get new (additional) weeklies... but that didn't happen. Well, now we get 500k vault dosh once a week for them which is not bad but it kinda feels like this game mode was a bit forgotten.
Final notes:
I hope this feedback won't feel like a rant or anything. All in all I like this update (except the EDARs...) but I think you tried to give us too much in too little time.
