When placing characters we could choose their perk.
As they kill Zeds they would earn xp and level up.
With money earned from killing Zeds we could purchase and upgrade weapons for them and purchase/upgrade their skills.
Good thing about KF2 is that it has a lot of weapons and perks. That could give a lot of strategy options in tower defense game.
Is it something like some kind of game mode for KF2 or totally separate tower defense game based on KF2?
And what kind of tower defense you had in mind?
Something like this where you put soldiers and they defend themselves from Zeds

Or something like this where you would put soldiers and they would shoot Zeds that are walking over path trying to get to something.

Or something like this?
Combination of Tower Defense and FPS.
Where you would play KF2 normally but build additional turrets, defenses and barricades?
https://store.steampowered.com/app/210770/Sanctum_2/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/35420/Defence_Alliance_2/ this mod has such a gamemode (original KF game required to play)
edit: I should warn those who don't know what to expect with that gamemode. Your weapons will be very weak in comparison to what the killing floor 1 weapons do. The Zeds have their KF1 healthpool while you have guns that have been scaled back by about 40-60%
