Patriach now spams minigun attack? ...
... Seriously? What's wrong with him lately? He spams machine gun even 2nd attack, and it is Patriarch. You can't go into close quaters agatins him, cause he corners you and kill you on Spot. I don't complain about dificulty. But this, is near impossible. Because the machine gun attack shred 90% of your health, then he rushes you and finishes you. A.I. on Bosses here is good, so they take care there is nothing to hide behind. And again. You get into a corners? Bad for you buddy. You are dead anyways!

If Patriarch was not so big path blocker, it would be fine, but you can't run by him. Especialy of Farm House map.

Tip: If you're close to the Patriarch and he whips out his minigun and there's nowhere to hide nearby, go up to his face point-blank. You'll be too close for him to hit with the minigun, and in order for him to hit you, he has to (quite audibly mind you) put the minigun away before performing a melee attack. When you're up close in his face, you can either heal yourself with a syringe, or get some super easy rapid headshots.

Cover is god when fighting a boss.

Might be the team positioning was different - Bosses AI feels more varied because they have a lot of different attacks and tend to switch targets frequently instead of just going for the nearest player. This means the whole team can factor into his decisions, not just the one or two players nearest.

It's the same reason it's fairly difficulty to get the attention of bosses as a berserker sometimes - they're spreading their attacks out amongst all players on purpose.

If most of the team is in sight but further away, he'll probably be using ranged attacks more.
This behaviour is more noticeable on open maps like farmhouse, as players tend to not hide for long and are usually fairly spread out.

As an individual, you don't want to risk the chance that he'll focus you, so you need to be near cover (or him as ness points out) any time he's around and fighting.

If he rushes that cover, the priority is not just to find more cover, but also keep him/you in line of sight of other teammates even if it means taking a melee hit. With other players around, you can try and alternate/rotate who gets hit by his melee while the medical darts do their work (heals happen at a fixed rate per person, but different people tanking = higher heals per second overall). Rest is just avoiding AoE attacks and clearing trash (Unless the team's confident of a speed-kill at that moment or you have a commando saving some for zed-time, trash killing should be the priority to avoid problems later in the fight).

I played solo. This was solo game. So that's why i am so confused. I don't have much problem being team player. But this kinda ... Confused me.

From my experience, it depends. Even playing solo, i sometimes get loads of minigun and sometimes not so much. Sometimes he cancels the attack when i go into cover, sometimes he doesnt.

Yeah, cover is king. I, especially when playing solo, tend to stick in crowded places (i.e. in front of the barn on Farmhouse) amd the very momemt he spins up his minigun, i drop everything else and run behind cover.

Just a heads up, I usually attack him up close and yes, his machine gun will not get a single bullet in you.
BUT his rockets will still kill you up close. This happened to me on one HoE map. He opened with his machine gun, I ran up with the evic and started slicing him up. Next thing I know I'm blown to pieces.
I never saw it coming.......

you can dodge his rocket launcher by hugging him too though. The issue is that if he's firing towards a wall and you're hugging him then you eat a ton of damage from the explosion.

Some more tips for Patty:
Only done it once, but if he's firing off his machine gun, you can jump to avoid some of the bullets. It's saved my butt.
When he fires his rocket into the air, you can hug him and none of his rockets will hit you. I only recommend this if you're a zerk and can close the distance quick though.
HiTmAn Dec 4, 2017 @ 5:15pm
just keep mid distance use corners to slow down boss.. alwayes have some kind of cover near

You just need to git gud

also if you are going solo you have a lot better chance to kill him before he heals, then his attack cycles are less brutal, plus no walking minigun.
