Gunslinger's 1858 Remington revolvers
I've heard a bunch of people complain that the gunslinger's 1858s are garbage. Gunslinger was the first perk I got into in this game and I've gotten really good with it. But I still don't understand why people hate the 1858s so much. I think they're a great tier 1 weapon. If you're one of those people that doesn't like them, tell me why you don't like them.

I trade them up for AT LEAST the Winchester after round 1. They just don't have the stopping power.

It's just not as good as other tier 1 weapons. long reload, low capacity, not impressive damage. The 9mm with perk bonuses is just as good. I fire them empty first round and sell them off for a med pistol, 1911 or 2, or a deagle, asap. All of those are far better. wish you could choose to start with med pistol instead, since it is just better in almost every way at teir 1.

they are only usefull if you dont have time to reload your 9mm

The only GS weapon i dont use too.

It isn't a weak weapon. It's good enough for first waves as much as another tier 1 weapons.
Yeah hard to use it well, but be always looking for only headshots as shooting slowly and carefully. While reloading, use the tactic 'canceling reload animation'. Keep in mind, that your all shoots are very important to survive. Always be moving even while aiming. Don't shoot zeds farther, your job is mid-range. First, think about switching weapon to 9mm when you needed to reload and if they were crowded zeds.

I'm not sure why, but I just don't like them. It's nothing specific, I just hate using them. I normally wait until after wave 2 to buy the next weapon, but when I'm gunslinger or zerker I go to the next weapon immediately. I love those 1911's and I use then throughout the entire game (dual 1911's, deagles, and dual magnums).

Too much recoil, an incredibly long reload time, and low clip size - all for the one positive of doing about 10 more damage than the 9mm pistol.
Simply put the DPS increase the 1858s provide when compared to the dual 9mms is marginal until you get the level 15 reload speed perk, and possibly non-existant if you can't handle the guns' outrageous recoil.

I personally enjoy them (:

As many have stated, the revolvers aren't much better than the 9mm. All the tier 1's are compared with 9mm as the benchmark, and most far exceed it in some way with the '58 revolvers being the one exception. This is really another example of people calling something "bad" when it's really just "not the best".

They kill everything in more or less the same amount of hits as 9mm while having inferior accuracy, recoil and magazine size.

If you're getting swarmed a 9mm is just way better, the revolvers are alright when its calm.

It's not something you use against cysts, clots and slashers ... You use it against gorefasts, gorefiends, and bloats, then switch back to 9mm.

I say people just dont know how to shoot them bro
They are inaccurate cause they have strong recoil per shot even with approprate perks.

Deagles and M1911 pistols don't have this drawback, sport a larger magazine, and faster reload with better damage, and the .500 revolvers at least compensate for having huge damage and stumble despite having a slightly slower reload, slighty fewer shots, and larger recoil per shot.

Face it, you made this topic knowing that a lot of people don't like the Tier 1 revolvers and people already brought up all the reasons why. You can continue being in denial all you want.

dual 9mm Vs tier 1 revolvers

I'll tell you right now, a good gunslinger can pull off way... more kills with those dualies than the dual revolvers.

I love these guns in real life, they just look so awesome. But in the game, they're only a little stronger than the 9mm and the 9mm has a lot more ammo, so it's more logical to just use the 9mm and sell it for a little bit of money. Although I don't do that, I normally use the 1858 for half of the game. I love it :D

Never use and never seen anyone use 1858 past wave 1. So weak that it's often compared to 9mm.
If this game has to delete a weapon, I would gladly vote this thing.
