How do you unlock characters?

How do you unlock characters? If I buy digital deluxe upgrade will I get all of them Instantly?

I'm pretty sure the digital deluxe just gives you skully. Tom banner(the knight) is a cross promo with chivalry, Anton strasser is cross promo with red orchestra(I think?), The swedish guy is given for following the game on steam(there's a button on the store page and a link in the main menu), and classic briar and masterson are given for owning the first Killing Floor.

The Digital Deluxe Edition contains all crossover content, including all characters and weapons. There is one character that can only be unlocked by following the Killing Floor 2 community, regardless of whether you own the Digital Deluxe Edition or not. If you stop following Killing Floor 2, that character will become locked again.

Unless you're really enthusiastic about getting the artbook, soundtrack, and all the extra characters and cosmetics that come with the Digital Deluxe Edition, I'd just get the regular edition. If you're just looking to play the game, the regular edition should have everything you'd ever want or need.

Eh.... it's just a loyalty reward
If you want to support Kf2, buy it and you'll get an in-game reward and kf1 copy for yourself or for a friend

I'm pretty sure they made Anton Strasser and Tom Banner available to anyone who played during EA. I don't own either of the games they come from and I have them unlocked
