One would think that a game called killing floor would be all about the many options of a floor, that is why the team behind the game as given us this precious time upon launch, so that we can gaze in wonder the structure of our ceiling.
I know of 2 ways to speed the start up.
1. download the game to a SSD
2. Go to library->right click on kf2 -> go to propertise-> set launch options -> in the box write this -> -nostartupmovies

Most HDD users have this problem. First time launch is long but launching the second time within the hour of quitting starts up less than 30 seconds. I think Tripwire is thinking of other ways of speeding up the game start up. This is a pro actually currently because it loads maps quicker than usual before.

I can confirm no. 1 option definitely works.

Yep that's promised by one of the TWI representative some time ago. So far no solid solution has come outta it.

They do this to make the game load faster when you are in-game. Between maps and such (lagg free zed spawning). Imo it is worth it in this game.

However, descync is huge problem right now. I don't know if it is because im playing more. but zeds are popping around all the time (when passing on light-posts ect.). Like Path of Exile all over again.

Yeah I think its more of a pro than a con. The beta and a couple versions after were horrible since the map textures were not loaded in during the first start up. There were WAY more problems with this as people who first tried joining a server would be stuck loading ingame instead, AND if the map happened to change, they would be stuck in that loading phase forever until they force close the game. The workaround to this was to first host a solo game to load all the map textures, and then join a multiplayer server to avoid the long ingame load afterwards.
This current initial loading while long, benefits people using SSD (which a lot of people use nowadays especially for gaming) and isn't as annoying

Usually when I start the game it takes anywhere from 1-2 minutes. Sometimes if i need to reboot the game it takes anywhere from 20 seconds to a minute. No other game takes this long to boot so it beats me as to why this is different.

Yeah still does, and no we dont all own SSD's ffs! :P

Lately the start up time has improved for me though
I cleared out my cache after unsubscribing from a lot of maps
and also other custom junk that gets chucked in the cache from playing custom maps
deleted the lot and it seems to have speeded up the start time.
I must admit though it is still tiring, any other game I boot up shows its splash screen
and then boots straight to the game easy peasy.
It's as if the game is trying to find its arms and legs to get it going but has no body to do so
lol
