PSA: Your perks can reset to 0 at any time and you will lose all progress

Just a heads up because I was unaware of this known issue with NO fix. After 200 hours of progress I joined a HoE server and my perks were reset to 0, any progress made is also lost as they will reset to 0 after each match.

The only fix is to reset my stats to 0 manually and start over. 200 hours of progress lost due to TW server corrupting data and no fault of my own.

Perk information isn't kept client side as it was with KF1 because people could alter there levels easily. TW servers can randomly lose all your data at any point in time as it did mine yesterday. TW will also ignore you as this is a known issue as seen on the KF2 support page.

Preceisely that. My level 25 Swat was selected by default upon opening the game. Only once I had joined the HoE server were all my perks suddenly at 0 and there was an attempt to vote kick me out of said HoE server. The vote failed and I left upon hitting "level 1" and realizing it was not a just a visual glitch.

Most of my perks were near 20-25 after roughly 200 hours of game time. Now they're all zero and any progress made now is also lost upon leaving the match. The KF2 support page says reseting to 0 manually is my only option and I've found other posts from users experiencing the same and no response from TW staff.

I've seen perks go to zero because of a server connection problem, but they came back later. If you join servers with certain mods your perks can be reset and stored on that server while you are on that server. You seem to be talking about something different. Not sure why you would opt to manually reset your perks as a "solution" before having a good conversation with a TWI representative.

I have not opted to manually reset. This is the ONLY solution as provided by TW, which I have yet to do because I'll probably just uninstall if that's the case.

The perks are 0 at the main menu and while I can get to level to 1 after joining a server, they then reset to 0 again once I leave.

I honestly couldn't say other then it was an HoE server on Burning Paris that had 5 high level players. One tried to kick me which failed, he then suggested I restart my game as the issue is temporary.

However my issue is not of the temporary variety that some others have suggested.

-Sure, but for the record, you have trid rebooting your computer and/or Steam though, right? Could you also provide the threads that have lost perks after joining a server? I could only find it for starting the game.

Thank you. I have rebooted everything mulitple times at this point. I have also done the verify game cache through Steam.

A TW staff member did reply to my bug report telling me to reset my stats to 0 manually. That is the ONLY solution as was made quite clear in the support page regarding this issue.

When they have a support page saying "reset your stats to 0" then when you contact their support, if they bother to respond (why would they respond to an issue thats already covered by their support page) they will simply tell you to "reset your stats to 0".

Thanks for that tip. TBH once I hit 25 all perks I was probably going to stop playing anyways but I'll keep it in mind.

As of now I'm more likely to uninstall and then with a heavy heart, cancel my RS2: Vietnam preorder. As far as I know the same issue could happen in their new games as well and I might lose all progress again randomly.

does RS2: Vietnam even have a leveling system. This might be a non issue for that game.
