Hey Dev. great demo!
Question to you, where do you get off? hiding this game deep in my steam store and not telling the world about it? (joking of course)

I found this game by complete accident.
and oh man am i excited for it's launch, you are even adding coop ?!
just shut up and take my money right now!

a couple things I would like to suggest. you are the first dev to understand that ships fired cannons in rows and not all at once like a shotgun, and there was a delay to their firing, awesome great work, and you got the smoke too.

I would like to point out the smoke should linger a lot longer and also drift much slower, naval battles at the time were very smokey with prolonged and large battles.
it also helps add a lot of ambiance.
also, ships usually had marines on the top decks firing muskets and such, this would be really great ambiance if you could add it, like when two ships got close enough to each other you see little puffs of smoke and hear the shot, just a possibility.

I actually worked on a pirate themed MMO, I worked briefly with the team for legends pirates of the Caribbean online and my job at the time was working on the ship combat, it was a passion of mine.

PS how do you use your square sails? the NPC's use them but I can't.

Thanks for the feedback,

Glad you were able to find it despite me best efforts to keep it secret.

while the lingering smoke would be nice, in terms ambiance and realism, it is performance wise very expensive, it is one flaw of the modern rending.

All that kind of extra visuals like marines shooting the crew of the enemy ship would be nice, maybe someday I have time to implement them.

That is cool, it is nice to see that there people keeping those old abandoned MMOs alive

The square sails are kept in the rolled position in order to make the visibility better when aiming and in first person mode. You will still get full sailing speed even if they are rolled and it has no gameplay implication.

Thank you for the reply, it's been a very fun Demo, and I can't wait for the coop release I already told my friends about it. they loved it too.

far as the smoke goes, you could leave it as a graphics option, some of us have very powerful computers and some don't, choice is always better than not when it comes to these sorts of things.

for the marines, you might be able to get away with static people on the decks of ships, they don't really move they are just aiming rifles and then when the ships draw close enough, a little puff of smoke, a sound of the shot and that would be enough for the ambiance, especially on the top deck. right now boarding is kind of lack luster and boring, but I get the limitations. the boarding was one of the hardest parts in the game I worked on.

Disney used nodes and a whole spawning system for the enemy pirates/Ghosts. oooo spooky XD

anyways great work so far, any idea of a date you were aiming for release?

The sails already go transparent when aiming, other ship models have low sails too and that works fine.

That was before I readded the transparent sails to the game. Now I might make lowered square sails option selectable if I have time.
So it would fix the issue.

you should do that, it looks very strange to not roll down the squares XD
