Game resolution

Have just bought the game and can't get the game to a high screen resolution.
When I start the game it prompts me to a windowed menu on my desktop where i set the game to 1920 x 1080 - when I click launch I get into the game menu where the menu is tilted half of the background is "out of screen".

I go into the ingame menu and choose display settings which is set at 1280 x 800 - whenever I try and change it above 1300 (or so) it resets to 1280x800.
The "autodetect" feature doesn't work either, still puts the resolution at 1280x800

Would very much like a fix as soon as possible as I can't play the game I just bought otherwise!

The launcher also didn't work for me. I solved the issue by setting the compatability mode "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings" for the executable and chosing the 1920x1080 resolution from the ingame menu.

Yeah I have done that as well, but wtf? That's usually something I have to do when playing very old games
