I know the second game have a Linux version to be released, but for the first one, i doubt.

Just get the second one as they are currently working on it to be on Linux.

I've already drunk too much today so WINE isn't an option, a native built on the other hand.. :D Euro Truck Sim 2 will have a native build available on Steam and it's in Beta now. :)

With Wine, you can use the executable for Wine and the graphics will be openGL for best compatibility and no HAL going on

Well, Im a mac owner, but it makes me happy if more and more games get to Linux as Linux and OSX are like twin sisters, both use OpenGL and not stupid DirectX, both are heavily C, C++ based and both come from Unix. I guess Valve is the best gaming friend Linux and OSX both got.

Na, come on! That would be a waste of time to port it. There is a Linux version announced for the ETS2, which is far better then the first one. But I think there is a good chance that it runs with wine.
CJ777 9 MAR 2013 a las 1:50 p. m.
Sir.eggy the problem is in order to play a Steam game through WINE you have to reinstall Steam through WINE and that logs you out of your native version. Honestly creates a bit of a messy situation for people who are new to Linux. We would like Linux to be as easy to use as possible, that's why native games are so important.

And therein lies the problem with there being a linux version of steam. Unfortunately 95% of software still isn't going to run on it because it's not developed for linux, and the market for selling games on linux simply isn't big enough for developers to care. Be happy when there's an excepton.

Linux had more than 2% on Steam just a little bit more than two weeks after a final release of Steam client for the platform ... and Mac has about 3% (after ~3 years). Also, Valve's console will run Linux, so it is expected Linux will gain more than Mac soon.

Exactly, 2% of a userbase isn't nearly enough people for developers to worry about. Like I said earlier be happy when there's an exception. Also don't misunderstand me, I'm not working against linux here, I'm just being realistic.

Although I am a big fan of Linux, I am being realistic as well. If it wasn't clear from my previous post, I was talking about the fact Linux may have more gamers on Steam then Mac and that it is more than certain it will have much more users once Valve's console is released.

You dont have to pay twice the real value of the hardware with linux. You can also install it on your current pc
