Recently @MoisTeaGaming did a very nice video series on Youtube.
If you have any special question please post it here and I'll be happy to answere.
Are there other keyboard controls other than the mouse controls?
Where is the save file kept? I found the mods folder, just wondered where the saved data goes.
The important ones are "esc" for going back to the map, "shift" for setting waypoints on the map, "plus" and "minus" for game speed, "wasd" scroll the map.
They should be there...AppData\Roaming\Godot\app_userdata\Skies above the Great War
Also, is there a limit to how long the war lasts, or a victory score to reach? Personally I like a long campaign, but not sure how to influence that.
During the flight you can press right mouse to toggle between flight mode and menu mode. Im menu mode you see arrows on the screen to switch between the pilots in the squad.
A spectator mode is not included so far.
Btw. with the mouse wheel you can adjust the speed of the aircraft.
I experimented with showing the date somehow. But as there are no day/night cycles or seasons it felt weird.
Although there is a timer for the war and you can influence the outcome with your overall performance.
While on the map there are info inserts for important events on the bottom left of your screen.
Is the end date / timer included in any of the data/starting files?
I've already been playing around with those files, and editing pilot names in my savegames, adding real pilot names from some Jasta/KEK books I have for a bit of realistic flavor in my German campaign.
I intend to leave a positive review soon. The closest game I've seen to this is the old Achtung Spitfire/Over the Reich games from some 25 years ago, though the battles in there were turn based (which I did enjoy). Anyone know of any strategy games like Skies, for either WW! or WW2?
Yes, it is the value "war_timer" in the starting_conditions.json. By default it starts at 0 and the game ends at 250. (it represents minutes in game)
In the game_values.json the factor "time_speed_factor" is responsible for how fast the war timer runs.
Highly welcome :)
The only game I know is Battlestations: Midway. I took a lot of inspiration from it in terms of gameplay. It is still great to play.
If it is activated the squadron/airfield or management part (production or pilot training) will be controlled by ai, so you can focus on something else. But you can still give them orders.
Anyway, is there a Game Manual or Guide that tells one how to play anywhere?
Most of the videos I've watched just involve someone flying around in circles shooting stuff, and I'm hoping there is more to this game than just that.
