Missing Music download
Since I own an original copy of Quake + Quake 2 and their addons I felt sorry for those who can't hear the music because steam has no form of Red Book emulator.

So what I did was to make a OGG music pack from the disc's.


Download
Ogg version now available (compatible with Unofficial v3.24 Patch (recommended if you want to host a Coop or Die server)[www.markshan.com] and KmQuake[www.markshan.com]).

OGG soundtrack download:

Extract to "quake 2\baseq2\music" (create folder where necessary).

You can install this patch and it will add all the tracks for Quake 2, so you do not ahve to put files here and there :

Ultimate Quake II let's you play in widescreen and adds the music for the game and the two expansions.

BUT REMEBER! Applying the patch will delete all your save files. So back those up before applying the patch.

Ah that one.

KmQuake and the OGG music does the same thing, but it is all preference.

Okay, no problem. I am an old timer in videogames and in id and Raven shooters.
I've had the patch exe in my Dropbox as well, but after a Windows update it was getting f*cked up and I wasn't able to upload it there. Sorry.

Plus it is highly recommended to use an advanced virus scanning software like Bitdefender, which shows if the download, or the downloading page is infected or not. It helps a lot before the actual download. It shows a small icon if the link contains an infection/might be infected.
That's how I've found this Mediafire link.

I just simply wanted to help people, who share the same, old school game loving interests like me.

That patch is really good,but i got a question,after using the patch,my Quake 2 uses the KM QUAKE 2 port now...does i can run the default Quake 2 with the musics?

If you use the CD image with the default Quake 2 you get the music.

The way Quake 2 would work originally (Pre-Steam release) is that it would take the music from the CD in the drive.

The CD itself is a music disc with the install files embedded into the background (somehow, seriously kinda smart, but no idea how that works) due to the fact even if hidden files are on and seeable, the install files are still impossible to see.

I'd love achievements in this game, would improve repaly quality further, but love how the mission packs are on Steam too. Impossible to torrent, even more impossible to actually obtain "legally" (quotes, due to this game being freeware to the same degree Sim Ant is, steam release affects that status 0%)

The game is not freeware.
