Does the super shotgun replace the shotgun

or no?

That's enough to take down just about any guard in the regular campaign, and two shots will take down an infantry. The blaster only does 10 points in single player and with the enhanced AI enemies tend to duck, dodge, or return fire if you're trying to hit them with it.

No, they both exist at the same time, regular Shotgun is set to 2 and Super Shotgun is set to 3.

Gotya, but I mean is there still use for the single fire variant, once you get the double barreled variant? In say game mechanics or certain enemies that you fight?

The Shotgun is basically outclassed by the Super Shotgun, yeah. You could argue the Shotgun has better damage at long range, but like... Just move closer with the SS. You'll probably never use the basic Shotgun again once you have the SS.

Yes, there is use for the single barreled Shotgun, even though other weapons can be better, but it all depends on situations and how you want to tackle them.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Yeah been doing that too, it shoots in an X pattern, while the double barreled is way more spread out.

Any way to increase storage capacity for different types of ammo ie so you can hold more ammo?

You will find bandoliers and heavy packs that increase maximum capacity.

Was wondering what that was.
